 oh so posting in threads that you disagree with is wrong or something? I never even bothered trying it. My post was me about to go to sleep and posting so I could easily find the thread.

I'm gonna go find a Deus Ex thread then.

The 970 looks like a great card!

I've been gaming on my laptop, with an Nvidia 540M 1GB. It works fine for everything I've been playing, with a little bit of strain here and there. Nothing is getting maxed out on a Core i3. Wouldn't mind having a more powerful option in my desktop, which doesn't have a graphics card in at at the moment. It's a Core i7 2600k based system that currently isn't doing a whole lot of anything.

Anyhow, long story short...anyone have a brand recommendation? I like the MSI twin frozr v design...(on their "gaming" variant) is there anything better to be on the lookout for?

Lol how is liking a game or not have anything to do with gaming the system or doing some shady activities?

@ZenErik: Now that you've had your 980 a while, do you have any thoughts on it vs. the 770 you replaced?

If anyone is replacing a card that is a good bit better than a Radeon 6670, let me know. As long as it's in pretty good shape and has some life left in it, I might be interested. I'd prefer to build a whole new PC, but that's not in the cards for many months.

I'm upgrading my HD 6950 soon. Not sure how big a jump that is for you.

Over a 6670? That's actually a pretty solid jump.

so my Win8 media PC got all F'd up (again). This is a long, long issue I've had w/ Win8 just not working at boot and hours of refreshing to get it going again. I had had it, so I decided fuck it - I'm gonna install SteamOS on it for kicks, as my main use on it is streaming from Steam (plus, I've seen tutorials to get Netflix and Youtube running on there pretty easily). But the install failed (haha?) and I wiped the drive in the process. Oh well. Part of me felt good murdering that box. After some research, I've discovered the shit mobo in these particular Lenovo's are infamous for being really stubborn about installing any new OS on them. So I stripped stuff I could re-use: optical drive, RAM, the CPU, and I've decided I'm gonna put together a cheap SteamOS box. But I want it to look like a console. So I'll try to find a cheap console-style case, a cheap mobo (needs to be an LGA1155 to match the CPU I stripped) and probably a new PSU so as not to use the generic one in this PC. Wish me luck.

Built my dad a new rig over the weekend, he wanted to play Alien Isolation.

He ended up getting the Gainward GTX970, the performance jump was not enough to justify me upgrading from my GTX770, but it is a very nice card.
