Nice write-up Michi. I watched this movie a few years back because I'm a big Tori Amos fan and she used the film title in her song Gold Dust (one of my favorites of hers).
Ha! Neat. I don't listen to a lot of Tori Amos, so didn't know that. Beautiful song.

Another bit of music trivia from Laura Mars that I learned about while looking for pictures: the role of Laura Mars was originally meant to the producers girlfriend at the time, Barbara Streisand. She didn't like some of the subject matter (The murder? Nudity? Who knows?), so the role went to Faye Dunaway. Though she didn't like the content, Streisand did wind up doing the opening theme for the film.

It landed her a hit on the Billboard Top 100, so I guess everybody won

After watching plenty of gruesome horror shows lately, the missus and I decided to take a break from the horror movies without fully taking a break. We looked for horror comedy and this popped up. It served its function for the night, had a few laugh worthy moments, but unfortunately about 40% of the jokes were about Marlon Wayan's character either avoiding a gay psychic's advances or being ass raped (in vivid detail) by an invisible ghost.

Nah, just his movies with sandler, rob schneider, and bucky larson. I'm a fan of all those guys, even if it is "stupid" comedy.

agreed. Nick's standup albums are awesome. Grandma's Boy was hilarious. You should see if you can find his show - might be on Netflix. Not sure. It was skits he did.

Seriously? He was the least funny person in the whole show in my opinion. All of the jokes involving him were completely homophobic. I found Marlon Wayans and Cedric the Entertainer to be funny, but not many others in the film. And though not played by an actor, the ghost who can't spell on the ouija board and who smoked weed with them was pretty funny.
