To show support, maybe?
Exactly.

I want to buy games for the Wii U. I've got plenty of games for other platforms already. I've always wanted it for the Wii U so why not.

"Superior" is indeed subjective as stated before.

This "Last Gen" nonsense is a bit narrowminded. It is part of the 8th generation of consoles, same as the Xbox One, PS4, the 3DS, and the PS Vita. Hardware, not performance, dictate generation stopgaps between generations. Its a clear cycle since the NES days of console generation.

This is a response to individuals discounting the Wii U solely for the purpose of exacting revenge for being "burned, abandoned, cheated, etc. Etc. Etc." by Nintendo for a "botched" console release.

My WiiU comments are solely based upon the fact it was supposed to be out at the same time, then held back, then stripped of any added support, given minimal touch controls, and none of the extras are included. It's not against the game, it's against the studio for throwing all WiiU owners under the bus and not wanting to give them my hard earned money to fund their behavior on a Nintendo system.

Say what you will but the WiiU is marginally more powerful than the PS3 and only then when you code specifically for the hardware or it'll fall flat under it and the 360 which is annoying. Call of Duty Black Ops2, Assassins Creed 3, Batman and others showed that going into it. I love the system enough and own one, but it has got me to the point I'm just sickened by the entire outcome of things around it with third parties as Nintendo stuff alone just isn't enough. If things were an ideal world with totally fair treatment by all around you'd see a heap of WiiU games unique and many/most ported correctly from the PS3 and 360 and you wouldn't have a reason to buy another system or sell it to get the games you want but that didn't happen. I just can't reward a company doing the sorriest port possible for full price and no I didn't buy it on PS3 or PS4 either as I wrote it off once they delayed it and made excuses.

Given other port track records, I wouldn't be too optimistic about Watch Dogs. Studio's have been phoning it in when it comes to porting their games to the Wii-U.

Could we move past the sloppy third party ports proving horsepower argument and classifying generation of console with capability compared to competitors? Neither of those things are accurate and they are both opinions that are far too prevalent in the hobby.

Yeah, it's a bit of a vicious cycle. Third parties think the Wii U will not give them a large enough profit margin, due to poor sales, therefore they put less time into Wii U ports, pump out inferior, terrible ports for the console and then the public turn around and think the Wii U has crap hardware due to the graphics or frame rate issues of these poor quality ports. Therefore, Wii U sales don't grow and these third parties continue to either not support the console or just put across poor quality ports.

The problem is that the Wii U's hardware is by far CLOSER to the hardware the PS3/360 had than it is to the PS4/Xbox One, and it is NOT CAPABLE of running some of the games designed exclusively for the PS4/Xbox One - much like the Wii wasn't for the PS3/360, either.

I think it IS a fair comparison to group the Wii U in with the last gen and the Wii in with the PS2/Xbox One/etc. The Wii is basically a Gamecube with motion controls, albeit a much more successful one.

I don't think I buy the graphics alone dictate generational placement argument, Dsh. Also, am I the only one that thinks it is weird that Sony and Microsoft produce a product line that offers so little distinction beyond what controller you're holding and they get a pat on the back for doing a good job, while Nintendo offers a product that (for better or worse) offers a different experience but they get shit for their troubles?

What's the alternative? Nintendo produces a machine that does exactly what their competitors already offer?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Call my close-minded, but I'd rather play first-party Nintendo games without motion controls. Motion control, while innovative and offers a different experience, is not why I've bought a Wii or WiiU, or its games. So if all systems were created equal, I'd still buy a WiiU for first-party titles, but would have less concern about third-party ports.
