When does global warming actually show up in real life?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Have any of you even seen Class of Nuke 'em High. It is a riveting documentary, I suggest you pick it up.

Sorry for posting this in the GMO thread.
GMOs are tied in with climate change. We could discuss that too.
Please, elaborate good sir. I'm not challenging the statement, I would actually like to know how.

I read somewhere that future recipes will have a lot more banana in them as global warming will turn them into our primary source of food, replacing wheat.

I could see that for rice, but I don't see why bananas would replace wheat from a nutritional and a structural standpoint.

Or was this supposed to be blue text?

In vegan and gluten-free diets bananas do replace a lot of items though not wheat.

I might have phrased that poorly. If all the wheat disappeared tomorrow, I would expect rice to replace where we were using wheat, not bananas.

Bananas would be tough, although a good alternative. They have very specific growing conditions, mostly due to the soil requirements. The same could be said of rice, although rice is a bit easier to work with. I imagine it would focus on rice for a time, then move to bananas as they become a more established option.

Genetically modified bananas would probably work though.

No it wasn't blue text. The article wasn't talking about nutritious value, but about how the increased global temperature would make bananas easier to grow compared with produce require a temperate environment......basically don't be surprised if you end up importing Canadian tomatoes

I get my tomatoes from a can; they could come from Russia for all I know.
