That's what's GoG does, they make the old work again like new on a modern PC. One of the biggest sellers to me -- independent downloads! You actually are allowed to physically keep what you pay for without some damned DRM attached like Steam which in itself is just that. If a game shows up on either service I'll take GoG first.

Keep it *and* archive it through backups. Best for when games are pulled from their catalog, like the Fallout games and the Nordic Games, as long as you've purchased them you can download them at any time, but I've got those backed up.

This is the most random gaming related thing I've seen in forever. Alien vs Predator 2000 being brought online, and it's not an indie project?

It's out! Got my key this morning. I have never played this, so getting destroyed by you all ought to be big fun!

EDIT: I guess the MP player portion (Galaxy) is coming later.

Mine has also arrived.

A word for those of you who have never played: you can play as humans, the xenomorphs from Aliens, or the Predator. Each group offers unique abilities and gameplay, with serious benefits and drawbacks to each.

Humans - can use a variety of weapons, such as mini guns, plasma rifles, and grenade launchers. They also have night vision goggles. They're in the mid-range in terms of health, but the other two groups have ways to mitigate that.

Aliens - are twice as fast as the others and can climb walls and ceilings. These guys only have melee attacks but are highly mobile and can easily see in the dark. Also, they have an instant kill attack if you aim correctly for the head.

Predators - are big, beefy, and can take a lot of hits. They have a nasty array of weapons and technology at their disposal. Predators can switch between vision modes as necessary and have a weapon that can fire around corners. It's generally best to only have one or two of these on any given map because a single Predator can easily dominate.

That said, multiplayer is played for points based on kills: Aliens offer the least points, Predators offer the most by far. Everyone tries to kill the Predator.

I wonder if they left in the ability for Aliens to climb each other in the absence of walls...

Nevermind what I said about the MP, the Galaxy client is a separate shortcut in your Start Menu. They could have done a little better with the info there.
