Don't care one way or the other. Back to the wall I vote "No".pepharytheworm wrote:If IDs were given away and everyone could just get one without any hoops. Then I say sure after a few years when it is proven hardly anyone doesn't have an ID anymore.
But the point is why are these laws coming into effect now when there is no evidence of rampant fraud? At the very least it's a scare tactic, creating a problem that doesn't really exist and then coming up with a solution. Why make things harder even if you find it insignificant? Would all of you who think it's not a problem also be the ones voting for voter ID laws? I think most of you just don't care at most because it doesn't effect you and probably no one in this thread has or would vote for there to be voter ID laws.
Please come correct me if anyone actually is advocating for voter ID's, cause all I see are people opposed, unsure or don't find it a problem. Anyone truly thinks this is necessary?
Does your state require a photo ID to vote? Don't vote!

In response to the less voter turnout if ID required, I can see this, but not because of being poor. Some might not want to make the second trip to the Polls due to forgetting an ID needed on a trivial thing such as voting. Really, most people have an ID of some sort, its required for so many things.
The accusations of right to privacy is also moot. Take a wild guess how many minimum paid volunteer poll workers at the voter locations have access to the name and address listing in your district.
How about making every Campaign video state "ID needed to vote" instead of that silly "I approve this message". I'm also wondering if one is so poor to not afford an ID probably not even paying taxes and getting all the freebies should even participate in the vote? Ah let the fire begin!

Agree, I mentioned this many pages ago and not one retort. This is the real Voter Fraud.Luke wrote:Surprised the "Your vote doesn't count anyway" discussion hasn't started aka the Electoral College throw down.

I don't care for your continuous bashing of welfare recipients, if I'm honest. Try to have a broader world view and understand that there are different circumstances in everyone's life. It is possible that some of these moochers have worked for years and are continuing to look for work. The taxes they may have paid while working would entitle them to said benefits after all. Furthermore, just what exactly does welfare have to do with the discussion at hand? I'm not looking for an argument, but blatantly disparaging those who require government assistance comes across as ignorant.CRTGAMER wrote:In response to the less voter turnout if ID required, I can see this, but not because of being poor. Don't be that guy, you know the one...pissed off at the world because you "work for a living!" and "everyone is looking for a handout!".

Showing empathy and compassion for another human being is much more impressive. Don't feed me the bullshit about it being their own fault either...maybe it is true of some, for many others layoffs and a shitty economy have left them no other option besides being homeless, which I'm sure people don't look down on.
