WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
I can't say much at this rate as I'm not sure myself, but my whole R5 issue got heavily escalated and will be dealt with very well it appears. My iphone snap of the wiring issue of the system got sent from the US office to the real head office in HK as my tech friend caught wind of the image and saw it, took it to the head of the company and both are apologetic and pissed about it. It will be resolved sooner than later thankfully.

Good to hear. I had no idea they were based overseas (although I should have guessed, right?) Keep us posted.

Haven't had time to mess with the Retron lately so I just installed 2.1 now. Pretty cool update, especially the Game Boy stuff and the turbo mapping. I don't mind the loss of the quick-loading since I never felt it took terribly long in the first place.

Hyperkin is based in Hong Kong, then there's the US office that is the face of them I guess.

Ehh I don't think that was it. The problem is the US office and their RMA process and lazy handling of it. My posting of the inside of the cart slot, my tech friend saw it and took the information to his bosses which got the ball rolling. The RMA process has set steps and guidelines to follow that aren't being done so my case I think is going to get the HK office putting a boot in the ass of the US one over it. The US office is still doing their thumb in butt stuff that's leaving me wondering what they're doing exactly. The last thing I was told from this side of the ocean is that the 'new' unit swap in the US may or may not have a new warranty on it because it's new and not a refurb. Like I said I'm over it at this rate as clearly the competence lies overseas.
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Is it okay to discuss hacking the Retron 5 here? I couldn't get SNES roms to load using the ips method, it did work for NES and MD roms.
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Did I hear right that the latest firmware patch disables the IPS loading?
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
I have no idea if the hacking is allowed or not, could be fine I imagine to discuss as long as no links to anything legally shady is linked to download. I was curious how that stuff worked out, but when I saw you had to make fake IPS files or something of the sort to individually load each game I lost all interest.
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
You need to remove the header first before making patches for snes games, both the starting game you're patching from and the end result.
