damn why so complicated just to pick up and play a game? Any of them are fine. You do want to enjoy the game, right? Not nitpick over version differences? Just get one and play it. If you become a hard core fan then you can sort through all the crap

Probably only going to play it this one time. Why not spend a few mins choosing the best experience available? It's not like I spent a month tearing my hair out over it. Did 15 mins research.. Then asked here. Decided. Am playing it now.

I'm not trying to be mean, but the best introduction to a game is to play it. It's ridiculous to me when people read up on a FAQ and a Wiki and watch a video walkthrough and discuss in depth about a game before they even play it. I'm like man just get the game and play it.fuctfuct wrote:Probably only going to play it this one time. Why not spend a few mins choosing the best experience available? You're right, in general, reading all about it and into all the details ahead of time is stupid and ruins the experience. The problem here though is Square loves to whore out their yesteryears so much because what they've done post-3D has been very spotty on quality. It's very easy for them to keep spitting out the best of their 16bit and 8bit era stuff remastered and retooled with something changed for better and for worse depending. With a game like FF1-6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and some others you really do have to ask which is the best one because of how they handle things.
Re: What Version of Final Fantasy IV Should I Play?
I've only played the original SNES, GBA and PSP versions, and definitely would go with PSP as the best.
I'm happy to hear this. I hated (haaaaaaaaaaated) that they changed "But you're still hungry" in the Chrono Trigger DS re-release.MrPopo wrote:I believe it's been kept in every translation because of how legendary it is.PresidentLeever wrote:So the PAL GBA version fixes a bunch of bugs, but which are still there? Anything severe? I'm playing FF3 right now and will replay FF4 after that, probably the GBA ver.
Which ones don't have 'spoony bard'? That's game breaking.

I have also played all the versions of this game and I found the SNES version the best, although the DS version is kinda neat with the graphics
The McCollum wood burned well.

In the case of a game that has been rereleased a billion times it's ridiculous not to. It's not like I read any spoilers or watch an entire lets play. I just googled the different versions and the pros and cons. The last game I played was earthbound. I just played it. Because it hasn't been rereleased several times on several systems.jvalentine98 wrote:I'm not trying to be mean, but the best introduction to a game is to play it. How has FFIV been spoiled at all in this thread?
Re: What Version of Final Fantasy IV Should I Play?
I'm a nut for this game, and some of the changes between versions make it a very different experience...which makes it an interesting choice for a newcomer.jvalentine98 wrote:damn why so complicated just to pick up and play a game? Don't be so mad, it's just video games and the people who (obsessively) love them.

IDK, if you're gonna invest ~40 hours into something, wouldn't you want to make sure you're getting the best experience?
Look at Metal Gear Solid 3, for example, and the two versions on the PS2 (original release and Subsistence). I picked up both versions, not knowing what either was, when they were dirt cheap at GameStop. I investigated which version I should play. Subsistence has a full 3D camera with the original version has a locked/fixed camera that past games in the series had. Well, MGS3 Subsistence became one of my favorite PS2 games after playing it. I don't think I could say that if I played the original version. In fact, I might not have even finished the game.
