Oh how I love a good deal...

Take a look at this spiffy missy.
Image

Got it on a trade for quake wars for pc ($20) off craigs list and it's in great condition aside from the blockbuster sharpie. Label isn't at all torn, except on the back safety thing (where there's a rip no bigger than a popcorn kernel) and it runs fine.

This brings me to one question, is there any way to remove said sharpie? I want this gem to be in the best condition is can be and I can't in good conscious leave it on. Any tips?
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

You can use a little rubbing alcohol or windex. Try windex first, if not then the rubbing alcohol. I use it all the time and it works like a charm.

Great find! I had a similar way that I found that cart... Went to a garage sale years ago had 15 bucks in my pocket. they were selling their snes, controllers, arcade stick everything for 10 bucks. they also had a huge rack of games, they wanted 3 bucks a game. I looked, found Chrono Trigger, FF3 and Super Mario World. I had seen in a magazine years before that Chrono Trigger was popular, and Final fantasy too, so i haggled em down to 5 bucks for all 3. Went home and looked em up.

Oh yeah, the rubbing alch + windex works, but a little scrubbing goes a long way :-)

I use a rubber cement thinning product call bestine. you can buy a small can at most art/craft stores for a couple bucks. It has a really strong smell but takes of 90% of the marker and pen marks on my carts. Do not go anywhere near the label though. However, sometimes there are permament markers that actually stain the plastic and you would have to sand the surface to remove it. Then obviously it ain't so pretty.

i love that game...it's such a great combination of everything good that made 16-bit rpg's so addictive and fun.

I still remember the magazine advertisement for the game. It's a two page ad witih each page on the right hand side, so you turn the page to get the full advertisement. Page one is Mog in the middle leaning on his sword with a bunch of monsters behind him. I remember Mag Roader (purple) and Doomgaze, but I know there were others. The caption: Just doesn't seem fair, does it?

Page two: Mog still standing in the same pose. All of the monsters have been vaporized, leaving piles of ash (with an identifying piece for each monster). The caption: Who says life is fair?
