Hello Folks. This is my first post here. I'm looking for a correct tutorial to learn how to burn NES games on CDs and play them on my Dreamcast. Please don't direct me to other links. I've tried many things with no luck. Problem is almost all of the tutorials are from 2001-2003 and links are down or the version of the softwares have changed. I have my Roms on my hard drive (NES files), I have DiscJuggler 6, Bootdreams 1.0.6c and nesterdc-7.1pb. Now can you please help me make a correct disc and play them on my DreamCast?
Thanks a bunch in advance.

Re: Need help to play NES games on Dreamcast [NesterDC]
I used to dabble in creating my own images and picking the roms myself, but to be honest, the easiest thing to do is to just find a ready made iso of NesterDC with all the games pre-loaded. All you'll need to do is get a blank CD, download the file, run it in Discjuggler (or similar program - Discjuggler can be downloaded for free, I think) and it should burn straight to the CD. No tutorials really needed...
Isozone should have what you are looking for.
I hope that helps?
Edit: I know you said no links, but this might be what you want: http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/dre ... -new-skin/

Re: Need help to play NES games on Dreamcast [NesterDC]
Thank you very much. But problem is I have tested 2 of the ready to made files on my DreamCast (downloaded from TheIsoZone) but they don't work on my console. What should I do? the link you posted for instance, I downloaded the file, unzipped it and then burned the file cdi file with DiskJuggler (maybe I should've changed some settings? I just clicked on start). But when I inserted the disc into my console and pressed start it gave me the error: "Please insert the disk". Should I do some changes (like firmware/software changes) on my DreamCast? Or should I just put the disk into it and it should play it? Is there a secret way to run/play these kind of discs? Or are they playable like normal/other games/cds?

Are you burning slow, as in say 12X or slower? Are you using quality discs? What revision of DC do you have?

Re: Need help to play NES games on Dreamcast [NesterDC]
I've owned 4 Dreamcasts and all of them have had various problems reading copied games. Sometimes it's as simple as using a different brand of CDRs. Sometimes you need the write speed to be set at the lowest, sometimes you need to mess with the settings. It does tend to be a bit trial and error in my experience.
I'm sorry I can't be more help. I haven't really done much burning of Dreamcast games in a long time.

THIS. Post the date off the sticker on the bottom. Later models have issues reading CDRs.Hobie-wan wrote:Are you burning slow, as in say 12X or slower? Are you using quality discs? What revision of DC do you have?
I'm a little put off that your very first post is requesting how to play pirated games. Really? No contribution or stories to get off to a good start? Anyways, there is no Firmware update or Menu setting adjustment that will affect the disc reader.Autxium wrote:Should I do some changes (like firmware/software changes) on my DreamCast? Re: Need help to play NES games on Dreamcast [NesterDC]
I've yet to hear of any Dreamcast in existence that can't actually read CDRs for any reason other than a dodgy lens. This is despite all the alleged fact that supposedly Dreamcasts manufactured after October 2000 have had the MIL-CD support removed. Much reading online seems suggest it may have only been an issue in Japan.CRTGAMER wrote:Post the date off the sticker on the bottom. Later models have issues reading CDRs.

I just burned one 16x and it doesn't work. 12x wasn't an option. I've got a PAL DreamCast. Should I change this? Are you burning slow, as in say 12X or slower? Are you using quality discs? What revision of DC do you have?

Re: Need help to play NES games on Dreamcast [NesterDC]
I have two Dreamcasts, my first system reads everything, the other one only reads Taiyos and black surface Memorex CDRs.
(Even on my Win98 machine) I use IMGBurn to burn my retro games (you'll need to obtain pfctoc.dll and copy it to the IMGBurn folder).
Alcohol 120% is also a good burning software.
