I'm sure people from other countries are laughing at us, where people in other countries would trek for days by donkey to exercise the right to vote. And the poor in this country can't be bother to take 2 hours out of a year and a 5-10 min bus ride?

Never claimed otherwise. But even if we were to say that officials only caught something absurd like 1 in 1000 voters who were committing fraud by lying about their identity at the ballot, we're still looking at the total number being in the many thousands of a percent. We know that there are much higher numbers of confirmed eligible voters without a photo ID.Jmustang1968 wrote:Those are people caught and indicted.

Alabama's for reference:
Non paid
Employees can take time off to vote in any election for which the employee is qualified and registered to vote, unless the employee's work hours commence at least two hours after the polls open or end at least one hour before the polls close. The employer may determine what hours are available for the employee to vote.

hmm I have to take off work to go see a doctor and guess what I don't get paid to do that, why should I have any sympathy. Really grasping at straws here aren't we?

I don't remember voicing my opinions in my quote. Just stating the facts from the link DSH sent which was discussed earlier. I quoted Alabama's because that is where the OP is from and where I use to reside. So who is grasping at straws?ninjainspandex wrote:hmm I have to take off work to go see a doctor and guess what I don't get paid to do that, why should I have any sympathy. ...that's what I said. The majority allow time off to vote - 31 states and territories out of 52 listed there - including the 3 most populated states in the union. Of those with laws on the books the majority are paid while out voting. Of the 21 without laws on the books many employers opt to allow time during a shift to go vote despite it not being legally required.

I concede, you guys are right. OP had a point, let's all quit voting. It's no longer fair to vote.
You can't just stop if the law applies to your state, you must think of all the people in other states whom have been disenfranchised. Let's just throw the candidates in a cage match or something.
Seriously though, where is this going exactly?
