Before the VC was even a concept people had been complaining for years for a classic Nintendo (black box) compilation disc or game pak from them for the GBA or GC due to the popularity of Namco Museum and such knockoffs being so high in that period. Instead of that you get 1 GBA game per pak and a really random assortment at that. THey've not released certain games even handed to them in english due to NOE and skipped those too. Their software side isn't untouchable from ignorant moves.
ok I see where you are coming from. I can see why they wouldn't do either from a business perspective though (why release compilation disks when you can just release them as separate releases on the GBA/DS, and Mother 3 (if that's what you are talking about) probably isn't worth the sales to get a physical release and there might be legal issues with selling the fan translation).

But at least they still do make amazing games and don't fuck their franchises like capcom has (RE6, Megaman ZX spring to mind)

Mother 3 hadn't even occurred to me, I've had it and it's not good unlike the other two.

I know from business sense it's good to grease any willing mark for each title individually, but so many others did not do that and it's a shame they chose to.

I think they have sullied a few titles, maybe not the derailment that Capcom did, but they took another angle with forced gimmicks screwing up quality game play mechanics and a great angle on that is how Zelda has been slapped around for awhile now. The DS has sketchy touch only controls, the neutered Wii version of the GC game with waggle to do imprecise sword play and sketchy aiming, and depending on taste even skyward sword as it'll wear your ass out doing 1:1 control style too. Mario really has never been screwed with, just farmed out to different styles with sports, paint, kart, etc with many being fairly to most surely solid outings as there really aren't any RE 'railgun' type tripe. Starfox got hosed up horribly on DS too with touch + limited turns based on fuel with a random fog of war map. Kirby has those shitty canvas curse controls on DS too, DS was like this tipping point to turd style experimentation.

Kirby Canvas Curse had a great reception from critics and fans alike. If it has any form of motion/touch controls you seem to think of it as *insert scatological term of choice* or am I wrong are there any you like?

Sigh.

Why can't they just... not make AAA games? Why can't they just... not bleed money like it's a god damn zit before prom night? Would it be so hard to just make a small budget game with a realistic design goal instead of the same shit that is bankrupting all the other companies out there?

Of course, but the stockholders should be able to look back and say "Oh wow, the last fifty thousand times we pushed for a Triple A game, it bit us in the ass."

Granted, I feel like Capcom going public was the beginning of the end for them.

That would mean stockholders were actual investors who did a lot of research on how to help their companies make money, and not just super rich gamblers.

Honestly though, considering Capcom's stock value, I'd be surprised if there are many investors really looking at it. Their stock value plummeted by a little over 50% between the beginning of September 2008 and mid-November 2008 and has never recovered.
