Just checked and there's a hack to improve the controls:

The L button already does what the hack provides; sounds like the hack just rebinds some controls with the only actual piece of new code is suppressing the No Problem Here message.

Well, I beat it. Interesting game. Glad I experienced it. Seriously doubt I'll ever do it again tho

That's my thing with EB, I finished it once, can't make myself to it again despite enjoying it fairly deep into the game before being bored by it. I usually can get everyone and stop where you get Poo in the nearby caves or into Moonside etc.
