Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (PS/Xbox/PC)

Post by Opa Opa »

Anyone looking forward to this game? Apparently you're some half-wraith dude going around causing general havoc at the expense of the forces of darkness. Also, there's some sort of influence system where you gain dominance over orcs and can move them through the hierarchy of the army's chain of command. I'm not entirely sure of the effects of controlling orcs but it sounds interesting.

What do you guys think of the game?

I've heard it apparently copies the combat from Assassin's Creed and/or the Batman Arkham games. I love the combat in those Batman games, and it works well enough in AC, so wrapping that all up in Lord of the Rings wrapping paper sounds like a good game to me. I will be excite.

This game has a lot of potential and looked fun at the last convention they showed it off at (at least the parts I saw on YouTube). Angry Joe interviewed one of the devs and he had good answers for every question Joe threw at him. I'm still not entirely convinced until release since the reputation system will pretty much make or break the game, but if done well it could be great.

Holy crap they're still making PlayStation and Xbox games?!

Seriously though, it looks pretty cool. Glad to see it's on the 7th gen systems as well as the 8th.

I've been meaning to check out the more recent LotR games, like Tactics, Conquest, War in the North, an even Lego The Hobbit. I think The Third Age is the newest one I own.

I'm kind of tired of seeing this. I mean, I know why they do it but (install base) but it seems that all that development energy might be better utilized in making games that are entirely current gen experiences. If devs must make versions for PS3/360, they should put the old "Wii ports" teams on the task of developing those versions for the 7th gen consoles and make the lead teams just worry about unique PS4/XboxOne/PC experiences.

I'm also tired of the PS3/360 games being ported to PS4/One. Give us new, exclusive stuff please.

You should try the movie tie-in games. I remember them being pretty fun back when I rented them. They're probably only 50¢ a piece now.

I'm in favor of this as long as the previous gen gets the game within say, 6 months. At the same time you can't please everyone. There's the argument above then there's the person complaining because 'why should I have to spend another $400 if I don't want to' or something similar.

Slaughtered 10 captains including a vendetta mission, no one's killed me yet. I guess it might take a war chief to take me down. I'm expecting my enemies to start doing this:

Throwing rocks at you?

No but seriously thanks for posting that video I'm in tears laughing at that. I loved that line so much when I was a kid.
