Nintendo Sound History Series: Zelda the Music

Neat way to hear the music from the famicom disk system version of the early games. The FDS was stereo unlike the Mono NES sound we are used to hearing. Interesting.

A somewhat occasional guilty pleasure of mine as well.

Listening to a lot of stuff of the Numero Group label (essentric soul, etc.)
Specifically their release of an underground metal group called Medusa:
Medusa - Black Wizard

+

Flying Lotus's latest album, You're Dead with Herbie Hancock and a bunch of others:
The track with Kendrick is solid:
Flying Lotus Ft Kendrick Lamar + Thunder Cat - Never Catch Me

Thanks for recommending this. I fade in-and-out on following Flying Lotus' work, but this album is phenomenal. This is forward-thinking music that also harks back to Miles Davis' jazz-fusion era (largely as a result of Herbie Hancock's signature keyboard playing being involved in both projects). Many hip hop and electronic musicians claim to be "jazzy", but few of them make actual jazz, and even fewer make good jazz. Flying Lotus' new "You're Dead" is real jazz and good jazz. This ranks up there with other beat artist's adventures into jazz territory such as Squarepusher's "Music is Rotted One Note", DJ Spooky's "Optometry", and Spring Heel Jack's "Masses".
