I've been playing Vampire Savior on the Saturn. Already beat it with Felicia, Victor, Lilith, Demitri, Morrigan, Bulleta, Phobos and Donovan.
Strangely even though Felicia is my main and I beat the game without using a single continue with her, she got second to Bulleta on the ranking, who is a character who I never play and I even had to continue with. I have no idea how ranking works in this game.
Definitely plan to play some Cotton 2 soon as well.
How is your Saturn gaming going?

Anywho, has anybody used the Retrolink Saturn USB controllers? I wonder if they're decent.

I came across this:TSTR wrote:Anywho, has anybody used the Retrolink Saturn USB controllers? I wonder if they're decent.

Seller claims these are official SEGA products.
I wouldn't buy the RetroLink Saturn Controller looking at the reviews. I bought similar SNES USB controllers, and they were garbage. I think the worst ones you can buy are the ones with the console name in the title, since they try to replicate a original.
I was trying to see if there was a high quality Saturn PC controller, but closest thing I found was that eBay posting.
This is the best SNES one:

They don't write "SNES" on it though, which is a good sign. Wish they had one for the Saturn.

Yeah, these are actually "official" Sega controllers, though I doubt they were actually made by Sega, probably just licensed by them.
I remember Sega was giving these controllers away with some sort of PC gaming service they were running that let you play a lot of their older games. If I remember correctly, it was mostly Genesis games and barely any Saturn games at all which seemed strange if they were giving away Saturn pads with it.

Re: How is your Saturn gaming going?
honestly, my saturn doesnt get as much love as it should, but I think it's just because i've been really stingy about only playing legitimate copies and not playing burned games. This has prevented me from playing most of the games i'd like, because Sega Saturn has gotten really expensive to collect for (at least for the desirable games). Though I recently got Guardian Heroes, Vampire Savior, and Astal, which i've thoroughly enjoyed playing. I also "accidentally" won a US Model 1 Saturn yesterday on Ebay, so I plan to really clean it up and attempt a region switch mod on it.
Re: How is your Saturn gaming going?
I've been buying a lot of lots lately. Might not get any highly desirable games, but you can get a lot of the more common games for pennies on the dollar. I have gotten a few dupes like I now have multiple copies of NBA Jam, Fighting Vipers, Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua On, Z Gundam and Blazing Tornado, but I could always sell them and re-coop the cost.
As for region mod, I don't really see much of a point unless you plan to get that Ultraman fighter or King of Fighters '95. Otherwise, getting an Action Replay Plus will do what you need to with a region mod plus give you extra save memory and RAM. (I ended up getting a Japanese Saturn Model 1 to play Ultraman and KOF'95, though honestly I just wanted a Japanese Saturn because I think that grey body looks sexy.)

Definitely some valid points, especially the color preference on the Japanese consoles. Basically, my intro to the Saturn world was importing a large, random, 50 game/console lot from Yahoo Japan. Unfortunately, the majority of the games are either sexy mahjong titles, off beat sports titles, demo discs, or just good games that don't translate well in the US. Though I lucked out and got Marvel Superheroes Vs Streetfighter, clockwork knight, Knights into Dreams, some good racing titles as well as an assortment of other oddities. But anything else, i've had to pick up on the side. The region free switch is just out of modding interest, as I do already own an Action Replay. I just really enjoy hands on electronics projects. One things for sure, the fighting game library is AWESOME.

... You planning to get rid of those sexy mahjong games?
I also have a strange fondness for demo discs, though the Saturn's demo discs don't strike a cord with me as much as the original PlayStation's or the Dreamcast's.

I'll give it some thought. Yeah I played the House of the Dead and Burning Rangers demo a few times, just wish they were the full games. Are any of the sexy mahjong/puzzle/adventure games mildly entertaining? I've yet to pop one in. Some of them are still sealed.
Re: How is your Saturn gaming going?
I played some a while back, but I didn't really know what I was doing. Now that I somewhat know how to play mahjong, I feel like I should give it another shot.
I've heard the Suchie Pai mahjong games are the best. I've got one of them, I should give it a go again... but later. Right now, I gotta get as much Halloween stuff in as possible.
