why would I need a mouse and keyboard to know I don't need to buy an Xbox One? I have an Xbox One controller... I'm all set.dsheinem wrote: If I believed for a second that you were going to play this game with a mouse and keyboard I'd put some stock in your snark.

Re: Alien: Isolation
I'm only an hour or so in so far, but I'm really enjoying the game. The atmosphere and claustrophobic feeling seems to be perfectly executed. I also find the 'head tracking' really immersive, even if it is a it gimmicky. I don't dare use the 'noise detection' feature though, with me recovering from a cold and sneezing a lot and my wife talking and watching tv in the same room.
I have the PS4 version, so can't comment on Xbox One, but I assume it's more or less the same.

The same way the one in Manhunt was?noiseredux wrote:the game has a 'noise detection' feature? How the heck is that fair to me?Reprise wrote:I don't dare use the 'noise detection' feature though,

You can turn it off. The idea is the mic on the camera (or your headset) is picked up by the enemies and they will hear it and react to it.noiseredux wrote:the game has a 'noise detection' feature? How the heck is that fair to me?Reprise wrote:I don't dare use the 'noise detection' feature though,
I guess it's to add to the immersion, but I don't think it's particularly fair if I get ripped apart by an alien or shot at because the telephone rings or I sneeze, so hence why I won't be using it

Considering I'm far deadlier than the xenomorph, I think it needs all the help it can get.noiseredux wrote:sigh, let's try this again.

Re: Alien: Isolation
Ack, I don't think the Xenomorph would hear you. Your mic is usually turned down pretty low.

One thing I loved in the PAX demo was how you have to decide to focus on the motion detector or the world. The one you're not focused on gets very blurry; blurry enough that you will miss critical things if you focus on one of the two 24/7.
