If worse comes to worse, in addition to the information other forum members have provided, see if you can speak to your University's Ombudsman, to see if there's an emergency student fund, if there's no other options through Financial Aid.lisalover1 wrote:Frown: SHITSHITSHIT! I just got an email this morning from my university saying that I still owe them $5000 this semester! I got exactly amount from my private loan as I was told, so I shouldn't have a penny left to pay. My parents aren't helping me with tuition anymore and I am freaking the fuck out right now. I still have just BARELY that much in savings, so I could pay it off right now, but then I'd be totally broke, and now is the worst possible time for that to happen. Oh my god, I'm crying, I can't deal with this...

This. Stop in to the financial office and explain the situation to them and you'll walk through what's happened, what mistakes may have been made, and how to move forward.Mad_Hatter wrote:Yea. Financial Aid offices are prone to mistakes. They might have not applied your loan correctly

No need to flip out. If push comes to shove at the cashier's office, speak with your academic adviser. They'll get things moving along for ya.
I went through a similar situation where I was double billed. When I showed the cashier the receipt of payment, I was told "We don't make mistakes". I paid again, got a refund and an apology. Hang in there.
Smile, kind of: I never knew Chris Pratt was once some ordinary chubby dude playing bit parts. He certainly handsomed up.
And mums are ten for twenty bucks at my local nursery. 'Round these parts it is close to sacrilege to not have potted mums on your stoop.
I need to get a bum for my stoop.

Okay, I calmed down a bit and I'm going to be talking to the Financial Aid office in a few minutes when they open. I just need to take some deep breaths and see what can be done. Thank you all for the suggestions - I'll be sure to ask about those.

@lisalover
Go with what everybody else is saying, financial aid offices tend to be terrible. I've had a couple of problems already with mine. Go and talk to them and see what the deal is, then go from there. I had to yell at that one poor guy to get him to figure out what the problem was.
Gonna have to go and talk to my adviser pretty soon to get all my stuff on track to keep my graduation plan going the correct way and to be prepared to choose my classes in November. Reeeeallly don't want to go though, I hate stuff like this and so called 'advisers' tend to rub me the wrong way most of the time.

You have the option of switching advisers.
No offense, and you shouldn't take any from this, but it's pretty obvious all you want to do is get through college, get a degree and get the fuck out. Your adviser will help you do this unless you plan on changing your major (which you should. Always change your major once unless you are 100% certain).

I guess it depends on the university, but some professors even advise too. So forlorn could probably schedule an advising appointment with a professor over X-subject that he's interested in. They'd provide even more insight than some dude/dudette that doesn't leave the advising center.Luke wrote:You have the option of switching advisers.

Just avoid talking to your University's Ombudsmoka. He won't be of much help.
Turned in an application today, and there's a very likely chance I'll get called up for an interview. Where you ask? Wait for it...

Is it true that GameStop just throws away old games that didn't sell? They don't donate them or anything? Just thrash them?

Frowns: My neighbor Bart had a heart attack today.
He is in his eighties, and has had health issues before. Super nice guy, and he and his wife have been planning on moving for months now. As with my other neighbors, I've been taking in and out his trash and recycling bins since I moved in. In return, the guy has always brought me something back from his many vacations.
Just a perfect neighbor. Guy even designed his own house, which he hates to leave, but he feels that his wife who is twenty years younger than him should be closer to family.
Stinks to see such a great guy in such a terrible situation.
