The "open" button on my PS1 is getting really sticky, to the point I have to hit it slightly to get it to pop back up and engage the latch.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what steps did you take (if any) to remedy the issue?
I guess if it comes down to it I can always snag another one for $5 from the place I got mine in the first place.
Thanks for reading!

Well, it's a little different, but I had a PlayStation controller with sticky buttons. I opened it up and it turned out somebody had spilled soda on it. A quick cleaning fixed it, so hopefully that's all you need.

This actually feels more like mechanical wear than some food stuck in it. Like the button is hanging up on something.Ack wrote:Well, it's a little different, but I had a PlayStation controller with sticky buttons. I'll probably just open it up and see what's up.

Yeah, it's probably your best bet. I'd say be careful, but you already know that.
Hope you manage to fix it.

Re: PS1 "Open" Button Sticky... any fix?
A little WD-40 on the mechanical portions of the button couldn't hurt.

Dielectric grease would probably be a better idea as it wouldn't have the possibility of smoking the internals. But yeah, thanks for the lube idea, I was thinking more along the lines of sandpaper... lolcorn619 wrote:A little WD-40 on the mechanical portions of the button couldn't hurt.
Probably just needs some grease and a new return spring.

Sandpapering and lubing the area with Dielectric grease sounds like a sure fire answer.DuManchu wrote:Dielectric grease would probably be a better idea as it wouldn't have the possibility of smoking the internals.
