A little over a month ago I found this franchise shop that opened up in town, third party Lego vendor called Bricks and Minifigs and it got me thinking about this one old set I've lugged around for as long as it has been around, but for at least a decade smashed up in a box. It motivated me to put it together, then use them to buy around 6 missing pieces to complete it, the big pirate ship the Black Seas Barracuda. It kind of clicked with me I needed a new direction, given games have become so nasty, predatory, overpriced and just horrible unless you're in one of the decreasing lucky areas still. I snapped up since from the shop a few small sets, one I used to own and a couple I didn't. I took that online and popped for 8 more, a few plates to use, and I found a few things local as well. I've really been enjoying it as it's fairly priced, non-competitive mostly(except for the few super rare season/short run things), and it's just relaxing and low stress but keeps you sharp building stuff. I find themes are cool but some of those creator sets are just awesome since you can make more than one thing.
This is what I have at this point:
An interesting thing I've noticed, every set I buy seems to have spare pieces in the box. I guess the lego piece shooter into the bags sometimes miscounts or whatever. If any of you buy sets, what do you do with the spares? So far I've been using small parts zip bags and kept them in those within the original box.
Anyone else here bother with Lego, or just the video game Lego stuff?
Lego's, who's into the them at all?

I love Legos. I don't have any personally, but a friend of mine has a buttload that we sometimes play with.

Yeah I did, but it was a little while ago and I since got into the stuff and I had asked about buying in bulk. I still haven't done that.
This one I just was curious who else got into it and just was more of a general topic.

My childhood revolved around Lego, and I still own every single piece. They're still very fun to pull out and play with sometimes, and I was really into making animated stop motion videos out of them for a period.

I'm sure there's a few threads out here with the same topic.
But I'm too lazy to link them. I'm not Dsh.
But yeah, I have a whole bunch of legos too. I have two tubs full of them. I never really bought sets. I did have a few but I lost the manuals long ago and the got mixed in with
the rest of my pieces.
I pull them out every once in a while and make some stuff for fun. Or when my little cousins come over. I let them have free reign on them.
I made stuff strictly with my noggin. Since my stuff is a little of this and a little of that. I have some technic pieces. But I never really got the hang of using them that much. I was straight up blocks kind of guy.
I had decent building skills. My little cousins love it when I make them something. I used to love playing with them constantly when I was a kid. But sometimes now I dont think I
have the same patience as I used to.
So When I build stuff, I use whatever piece is useful. So my creations are a mismatch of colors.
I balk now at the prices of sets. I dont think I'll ever pay that much for a set. I'd rather spend it on a game. Too expensive for me now.

Growing up in the 80s in a family of four boys, we had plenty of legos. But I only kept one set together, and only one part of that. It was my oldest brothers Futuron Monorail. It will not be taken apart and added to the general mix of color coded bins of legos. Since the Monorail is so rare, only made three times, all in small numbers. That and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen when I was a child.

Re: Lego's, who's into the them at all?
I still have all of my Lego from when I was a kid. The first set I got one Christmas was my first "holy crap awesome" gift. I had some other building toys at the time, but the Lego were amazing. A few years later my grandmother gave me $50 one Christmas, which was crazypants. My parents weren't too happy when I spent it all in one go on a big space set. I've still gotten new ones every once in a while over the years. I haven't built it yet, but I splurged on the lst one I bought, which was set 7066. Thought it looked pretty cool and the ship looks a bit like the one from Gradius.

Hah wow yeah I had to look that up, that does look a little like that and a fun invasion defense set on the whole. It's big, but not overly big (the 1000+ piece sets) so it would be fun to do over a few hours.
I still have 3 sets remaining to build in the box, just did the Mining 4x4 yesterday.
60017 flatbed truck, 5770 lighthouse island, and 31025 mountain hut
The last two are on the larger side, both Creator sets so they can be torn down and find 2 new things to do after.

Jealous. I always wanted the Monorail as a kid. I'd get one now except I have nowhere to put it (and kitties would probably destroy it anyway).fastbilly1 wrote:Growing up in the 80s in a family of four boys, we had plenty of legos.
