I should probably play the first game first anyway.

I love Borderlands 2 immensely and have sunk about 20 hours into the Vita port....and it just isn't really a very good experience. It is slow and stuttery and it emphasizes some of the limitations of the Vita. I still intend to finish it, but it truly is the worst way to play it.

I thought about a vita for no other reason than portable Borderlands. I thought I read it was a bad port though.

I haven't convinced myself that it is the actual engine yet, but yes Falling Skies is basically a total clone of XCOM.
