Hate playing videogames? Now you dont have to!
Re: Hate playing videogames? Now you dont have to!
Nintendo has been milking the same franchises since the 80s. They will continue to do so until people stop buying their products. It sucks because I want to like Nintendo but, they make nothing I want. I like Zelda but lets face it, not too much has changed since the 80s. Pikmin is the only original IP I've seen Nintendo develop in a long time. And if anyone mentions Wiisports as a original IP I'm going to puke.

Can you blame them?Dreamstation wrote:As i having been saying for months Nintendo is telling hardcore gamers too bad.
"Hardcore" gamers are (a) a minority market, (b) currently being fought over by Sony and Microsoft who are both making losses while fighting for said market.
Nintendo are a company, not a charity. If people don't like that, the best response is to stop spending money on their products.

I totally agree with the last two posts.
I really DO want to like Nintendo because of my huge nostalgia streak for them. But I am not interested in their current efforts and therefore do not spend money on their products. I think the last time I spent money on a Nintendo products was when I bought Twilight Princess at the end of 2006. So, more than two years.

I remember back in the day when you had to call a 900 number for hints for pc adventure games by lucasarts and seirra... yeah i did that a couple of times. Once for sam and max, police quest 4 (the gates one), and monkey island... having to spend $3 per call really made me try to figure out a puzzle before giving in and asking for an answer...
Nowadays I really dont see the problem with this new patent since anyone can go to gamefaqs or find an online guide. I dont think something like this will help sell the game... but maybe I'm wrong.

So what? If it's unpopular, then nobody would care for it anyway.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

Its an unpopular option for people like us. However, their is a market that everyone is forgetting about; the young kids that are going to grow up with this feature, and beat all their games using it. They're going to expect everything to be handed to them...and the market is going to switch with them.
Sony and Microsoft are fighting over the mature market...which is a solid market, but they are subsequently turning their backs on the younger market. Sure they have Little Big Planet, and Some lego games...but where are the QUALITY titles for the kids? All I'm seeing is the moronic kids with no coordination being spoon-fed.
If you wanna get the young market, make a game in the spirit of a 16bit platformer. With gorgeous graphics and simple controls (people have forgotten how enjoyable a simple control scheme can be). Give the characters some ultimate move that makes the screen flash and blow everything away.
The money they make off the young market will blow away the need for a casual market...and then everyone can go back to making good games.

I don't see what the big deal is. My brother often asks for my help getting past the difficult parts in games he's playing. This is the same thing, the only difference being that I won't be bothered. Hell, I'd even consider using it myself to skip past lame tacked-on stealth segments or boring fetch quests.
If anything, this would allow developers to make games HARDER, since they wouldn't have to worry about casual gamers getting frustrated and pissed off when they hit a roadblock. This isn't exactly the end of gaming as we know it. It could be a good thing.
BTW, hi, I'm Krooze.

Mountains out of molehills and just giving people more reasons to bitch about Nintendo.
It just makes every game have the same quality that Dragons Lair HD had - the ability to play through the game like a movie, and while it was appropriate there (the game was a cartoon), it seems to be tearing everyone here apart. I just dont get it.
