Roy is an easy one to overlook for younger people. They may think "Pretty Woman" to be a cheesy song but it's actually very complex, especially given it was written in the early 60s, before the Beatles made it to the U.S.

I'm gonna throw an oddball out there, who happens to be one of my faves: Ric Ocasek. He just looks like a singer, like a combination of Joey Ramone's stature and a greaser from the Outsiders.

Oh yeah the whole thing about not including artist from groups is crap. Those bands had vocalist. You're discarding people like the Beatles, Beach Boys, and Stones just to name a few heavyweights, who without them rock and pop would be a different landscape entirely. Geez.

Speaking of Joey Ramone, there's another that's iconic. But he was in a band! Man, what an awful premise to begin such a discussion.
