First things first. Get CrystalDiskInfo, run it, and see what it returns for S.M.A.R.T. status on your hard drive.

Do Disk Management, Scandisk, or any SMART checking utilities report any issues?

That's exactly what I figured.

Your drive is failing. Back up what's important as soon as possible.

Next, grab the serial number and head over to Seagate's website. Do a warranty check to see if your drive is still under warranty. If yes, great, go through the RMA process and bag yourself a replacement hard drive.

If no, go buy yourself a new hard drive.

You were close, the model number is the bit before the hyphen. :)

Unfortunately your drive is out of warranty. I believe there are repair options, but that's up to you. Frankly I'd get another drive anyway, since you'll have to back up what you've got, and decide if you want to have your old one repaired (read: they'll send you a refurb) after.

Try and use your drive as little as possible between now and backing it up. The more you crunch away at it, the more likely you'll start experiencing some data loss.
