So what have you guys been watching lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Gotham to me feels like they are playing it safe. It just doesn't really do anything that hasn't been done before and it's not really adding much to the Batman Universe. If they paced themselves and tried to develop Gordon's character a bit instead of dropping in as many big characters as they could right off the bat then maybe it would be a better show, but right now they seem to be relying to much on popping in big names to keep people coming back.

I mean we are two episodes in and we already have The Riddler, Catwoman, Batman, Penguin, Falcone, Ivy, Fish, Maroni, and etc.

I think of this clip every time I watch the show

They might be pandering to their comic book fans a tad, but you do need a hook with a series premiere. And to non-comic book readers, it introduces them to the "universe". Almost every show introduces a lot of characters right of the bat, and then slowly fleshes them all out. It's good story telling.

How many episodes of Gotham have now aired? Only a couple, right? I say give it a few more to let it hit its stride. Pilots are always weird.

Only pilot that I think got me hooked from the very beginning was L O S T. Other shows, it takes me a while to get into.

Finished season seven of Trailer Park Boys. Bittersweet, it was an odd run.

Up to episode five of the first season of Twilight Zone. Episode six - Escape Clause, is on the docket for tonight, unless something else breaks.

You know there's an eighth season on Netflix, right? There's also the movies to watch. And the Christmas special, which makes an appearance every holiday season at my family's house.

If they were pandering to their comic book fans, Gordon would have longer, red hair. Obviously.

I haven't watched it yet, but continually hearing it compared to cop shows really is off puting.

To me this is the kind of cop show I could really get into though I think when Ack said give it a few episodes to really hit it's stride he is probably right. Usually that's the same thing abou most shows(especially most US shows like this anyways...)

It's kind of like a mediocre cop show just with Batman references everywhere.

The real problem I have at the moment is Gordon feels like he is playing second fiddle to everyone else on the show :P. His character is extremely predictable and he has little to no support at the moment.

Semi Spoiler maybe :P
It's kind of like Gordon and Barbara vs. the world with maybe a little assistance from Cat. If he weren't the sole "good" cop in the entire show it would be a huge improvement so I am really hoping for some more characters to pop up as well as some more back story since they keep blabbing about his past experiences as a soldier.
As things stand Cat and Penguin to me at least seem to be much more interesting characters than Gordon. Things should hopefully improve soon but for now this is one of the weakest DC shows I have seen in quite a while.
