Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Love the Elvira poster. The Seed of Dsh and Noise kind of sounds more like a porno, but I get where you are going with it.

Oh, I do love this time of year.

A game I look forward to playing for the first time this month: Disney's The Haunted Mansion
A game I look forward to replaying this month: Silent Hill
A movie I look forward to watching for the first time this month: Twitch of the Death Nerve
A movie I can't wait to rewatch this month: Halloween
An obscure movie I want everyone else to watch: There's Nothing Out There
My Halloween costume will be: I haven't a clue. Last year I dressed as the Punisher.
And something else spooky I'm planning: My 31 days of horror films!

The games are nice, but generally I use October as an excuse to attempt watching 31 horror films over the course of the month. After last year's list had some no-gos due to titles being rented and such, I've compiled a list of 51 films to stick to this year, which gives me 31 to seek and 20 potential alternates, most of which I've never seen.

So what's on the list for this year? Check it out:

From Beyond
House 2
The Fly 2
Carnival of Souls
The Indestructible Man
The Bat
Monster from a Prehistoric Planet
The Brain That Wouldn't Die
The Giant Gila Monster
Invisible Ghost
The Sentinel
The Entity
Burnt Offerings
Opera
This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse
The Town That Dreaded Sundown
The Legend of Boggy Creek
Werewolves on Wheels
The Company of Wolves
The Cat and the Canary
Mark of the Vampire
La Chute de la Maison Usher
The Phantom Carriage
Midnight Faces
The Man Who Laughs
Silver Bullet
The Ghoul
House of Wax
Isle of the Dead
The Crawling Eye
Twitch of the Death Nerve
The Driller Killer
Corruption
Satanico Pandemonium
School of the Holy Beast
Blacula
The Toolbox Murders
City of the Living Dead
Flesh for Frankenstein
Dead & Buried
Halloween
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Tourist Trap
Friday the 13th
Friday the 13th Part 2
Friday the 13th Part III
Savage Weekend
Munchies
The Lost Boys
Kwaidan
Lady in White

These are the films I have to adhere to. I may end up watching few other horror films, but those will not get to count this year like they did last year.

A game I look forward to playing for the first time this month:

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3), Ghostbusters (PS3), and Devil May Cry (PS2/PS3) are the video games I will be playing next month. I will probably start with Ghostbusters, but the fact I have never played Devil May Cry continues to haunt me. (If my children want to play a "scary" game after we finish up Donkey Kong Country Returns, we may play the Wii remake of Haunted House.)

A game I look forward to replaying this month:

There are entirely too many games in my backlog for me to replay anything. If I was replaying something, however, it would be the original Castlevania trilogy.

A movie I look forward to watching for the first time this month:

Trick 'r Treat. I have read that some of you like this movie.

A movie I can't wait to rewatch this month:

There are entirely too many unwatched horror films in my DVD collection, Hulu+ queue, and Netflix queue for me to rewatch anything this year. Seriously, I have copies of Creepshow, Trick 'r Treat, and The Whip & the Body, among others, sitting next to my TV; my Hulu+ queue has movies like The House on Sorority Row, The Living Skeleton, The Prowler, and The Vanishing; and my Netflix queue has The Banshee Chapter, The Cat & the Canary, and Silent House. With a selection like this, I will be very lucky just to get through the very best horror movies in my backlog.

An obscure movie I want everyone else to watch:

Despite one weak sequence, Kwaidan (1964) is one of my favorite films in any genre, not just horror. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My Halloween costume will be:

I will probably go as a nice father escorting two, still-very-small, half-scared children trisk-or treating. If I was dressing up, however, I would break out my old letter jacket and go as Richard.

And something else spooky I'm planning:

This month, I will be drinking Harvest Time Pumpkin Ale from Raleigh's Big Boss Brewing. (How cool is that logo?)

Since my wife and I have already started "pre-gaming" for October, I am going to start my horror movie list:

SEPTEMBER HORROR MOVIES:

OCTOBER HORROR MOVIES:
Nothing yet!

.....

I aplogize for the double post, but in-depth reviews like these are critical to other members selecting only the very best horror films next month.

I agree. I am a big Mario Bava fan, and that movie was really, really disappointing. I also hope that Ack is planning to watch a couple of those (i.e., The Giant Gila Monster, etc.) with the MST3K cast. Their commentary improves those films drastically.
