Leisure Suit Larry

Post by nickherc »

Leisure Suit Larry series was really hardcore for me back in the days. Remember, Internet wasn't what it is today, so Larry content was more than spicy. My favourite ones are the original from 1987 and 1996, Love for Sail. The first one I really like because of the whole scene, kinda reminds me of some short story of Bukowski.

Anyway, I made a fanpage about Leisure Suit Larry series and I would really appreciate it, if you guys could check it out, maybe give me a bit of feedback, just don't go to hard on me :).

I love Larry 1, 2 & 3. After that, the games lost what made them so unique in the first place...the raunchiness. 6 is fun as an adventure game, but kind of lame as a Larry game.

Yeah, I hear ya. I loved the first one, because it was drunks, prostitutes, bars, back alleys... Kinda fun low life. Later they "classed" it up a bit, although "classed" is probably not the best description when referring to the Leisure Suit Larry games, hehe.

What do you think about Reloaded?

I've only played the first game, but my mate and I used to think it was great. Considering we were only young at the time, we thought the game was freaking hilarious and we felt really "bad" playing it. It was a fun adventure game.

VGA1 and 6 were my thing with the series but I tried that whole series out, yet 6 I committed the most to with the other behind it. The rest never interested me much. Back in my senior year of high school we had to make a comic book for english class on a shakespeare story. We thought we'd get one over as a prank on the teacher and had 'The Seafarer' starring Leisure Suit Larry(unnamed) which I drew most of as I could do a nice Larry. We got an A on it, and a little extra sentence or two on the front, teacher(woman) knew who it was an was amused by it. :D So everyone won.

Sounds very cool, I would love to read it, I'm sure it's hilarious  .
What do you guys think about Reloaded, remake of the original? I think it's a great game, the only problem is the price. 20$ for a graphic update is too much, especially if you consider that they raised money through kickstarter. Very little content was added.
Sure, for someone who did not play the original, it's worth it, but for most people, who even backed the game with own money, it's a bit of a let down.

It's nice they again redrew it, but I didn't even bother to look at it because it's a kickstarter project. I don't donate to non-sure bets and given some of these projects to fund means they're entirely paid up front basically, as you said $20 was too much.

No, I just focused on Larry games. And to be honest, I'm not a big fan of Magna Cum Laude.

It's pretty terrible, but it has Leisure Suit Larry in the title doesn't it? Just wondering.
