best genesis picture
Hi, I want to get the best picture quality from my genesis model 1 and separately for my 32x (I have seperate set-ups for SMS compatibility) I know I need RGB scart cables along with a convertor to hdmi. Now I also know that many are only compatible with PAL systems. How can I be sure that the RGB scart cable will be compatible with my consoles? Also, do the convertors have the same issues? Eventually I will want to get a scart cable for my model 2 saturn and probably all my other systems I've been using composite with, PS1 N64 SNES etc.
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

Well I'm guessing since he said he needs an RGB to HDMI converter he will be playing it on an HDTV. Those cheap chinese converter boxes are a crapshoot. Some say they work awesome others say they look like crap. I actually bought one of those $50 RGB to Component adapters for use on my Sony Trinitron CRT and the results were incredible, though I did have to open it up and fiddle with the pots until I got the colors right. But I think I got it just perfect.

Re: best genesis picture
I have wondered why older PAL consoles have RGB since the retro consoles do not support 480p. Sure there is better video separation, but would SVideo Chroma Luma channels be enough for the lower resolution? That is if your HD TV by rare chance has the SVideo input.
THIS. Make and especially the model number and available inputs on the TV.Ziggy587 wrote:What TV will you be playing these consoles on?

I'm planning on using HDMI eventually with a nice projector, thought about using an RGB screen but the size is pretty limiting. But with the Genesis, will all rgb scart cables work? I saw someone had difficulty finding a pal scart cable that wasn't compatible NTSC. How can I be sure the scart cable will be compatible with my NTSC Genesis M1?

No need for 480p, RGB as we know it was being invented in the 1970s.CRTGAMER wrote:I have wondered why older PAL consoles have RGB since the retro consoles do not support 480p. svideo looks good but a less universal standard. still uses encoding like NTSC or PAL.
Genesis M1 in USA, PAL, and Japan, all have the same RGB out. Except France (takes slightly different cables).fredthezombie wrote:I'm planning on using HDMI eventually with a nice projector, thought about using an RGB screen but the size is pretty limiting.
