Wow that's much nicer, totally lazy on bunny's part not to accept that or endorse it at all.

Well there's a new NES PowerPak coming out (eventually) so he might be putting all his effort into that. It sucks, but there hasn't been any firmware or mapper updates from him for either PowerPak in a while now. As for the SNES PowerPak, he said openly that the NES is his focus and he doesn't care so much for the SNES. Well, he said that in regards to SNES repro carts, but I guess the thought pattern could carry over to his flash carts as well. I mean, I don't know for sure, that's just the impression that I got from what I've read.

Honestly, the SNES PowerPak isn't a good buy IMO. It's priced right in the middle of the Super Everdrive and Sd2snes. The only thing it holds over the Everdrive, in functionality, is the ability to load a 96Mb ROM (decompressed Star Ocean) and it's obvious that the Sd2snes outshines it completely. So it doesn't make sense to buy one, you're better off saving some bucks and getting the Everdrive or spending just a little more on the Sd2snes. The only reason why I bought one is because I got it used for cheaper, and it was a decent upgrade from my Tototek cart.

Oh I know I talked off and on with him when I bothered with that forum and when I had one of those power paks for the NES. The thing is he's delayed and slow on getting that HDMI NES out and that with its scoreboard is his priority, everything else is on a backburner last I read anything. I think he'll be more than engaged with that for awhile, maybe that powerpak2 will come around after but it was talked about before hdmi nes was a known thing. I think the way is saves/loads was to be improved too. The SNES powerpak being a non-issue to him would make sense with all the focus on the NES stuff and you're right the pricing is junk when it's in the middle of two more capable devices with a less obtuse menu and save routine.

Now that I think about it, I seem to remember the guy that made the CFW for the SNES PowerPak talking about possibly enhancing the way saves work. I think he was looking into automatic SRAM creation (rather then having to manually add the file onto the CF card for each game) but my memory is kinda fuzzy.

Well, at least the community has added some great features to the PowerPaks. The NES PowerPak got FDS support from Loopy, and other people have added other features such as save states. Still, the NES/SNES PowerPak scene seems stale right now, I'm not aware of any recent updates for a while now. I guess the PowerPaks are old news since the Sd2snes and Everdrive N8 came out.

Well I think it's as you said stale because it's dead. Sure they go up for sale but retrousb has shifted all effort into that hdmi nes with the online scoreboard attached to it for high score bragging. There has been a lot of effort I watched at that forum for awhile and all those bootleg 'repro' carts are not being made and when they're gone they're out, and much with the rest of the homebrew too so it's all in on that one I guess. Since the company ignores the product, so does the consumer when newer cheaper better supported stuff shows up so it's not a surprise. If powerpak 2 ever happens for the nes whenever that delayed system is out, then depending on how it arrives and price it will see interest re-appear. I know he's very vested in the system as it has been full blown attack mode ever since the Retron5 was put to the market both in existence and then for purchase because despite not admitting it, it's a threat because most don't know or care if it's emulated and it did HDMI NES first, and with perks, plus the other systems too for not that big of a price difference so maybe that has a hand in it.

Emulation, especially first-party emulation like VC, has gotten so close to perfect that for most people who just want to play games, it's a great choice. Sounds like you don't have any crazy nostalgia for the SNES, which means you probably don't know any games well enough that the tiny glitches/errors from emulation will bother you (please note, I'm not trying to be derisive there, I do have nostalgia for the SNES and I also don't really know any games well enough that they would bother me)

Like you say, price-wise it's a no brainer to pick VC instead of physical copy games. And even here in the states, SNES games have skyrocketed in recent years. 10 or 12 years ago when I started collecting again, I could scoop up SNES games from my local Electronics Boutique for $4.99 each. Blew my mind when I realized Demon's Crest (which I had never heard of when I bought it back then and haven't really played much since I did) is going for $80-100 now.

However, I will agree with what others have said, if you're going to sell it, sell it for a good reason. I've considered selling my stuff before, but I have no compelling reason -- I don't need money, I don't need space. Someone here (I forget who) put it best: "You cared enough to buy it once, for some reason, and chances are you'll care again at some point." The only stuff I've ever sold or am planning to sell other than the occasional dupe (and I even keep some of those if it's a variant) are some of the really early 2nd generation systems that I bought and have literally never turned on because I have zero nostalgia for systems released 5+ years before I was born
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

VC is great, but the problem is that it only offers something like 10% of a console's library. Probably less than 10% when it comes to the U.

The flash cart's buy in price might seem high, but if you consider that you'll pay $80 for a flash cart that'll let you immediately play 500 games, that's 16 cents per game! And you'll have all the benefits of real hardware.

ZSNES + laptop w/ HDMI out + USB SNES controller = bliss.

Sell it all, OP.
