Whatever your view on it may be, the "law enforcement" in the USA is fucking stupid and this isnt how this should of been handled.
My nephew and I were outside playing with my pellet rifle. I knew in the back of my mind the cops would eventually show up, and they did. Took about 20min though... but who knows how long ago it was called in. Anyway, there were like 10 cops and all of them couldn't have been nicer to us.

Yes, they were actually nice... I can't believe I am saying it either.

Frown:
I was woken up at 3:00am by someone angrily saying to me "Stop what you're doing and come play with me!". I thought the voice was outside the window, as I was sleeping on the ground level, with my wife sleeping separately upstairs because she is sick and contagious. My heart nearly leaped out of my chest and I frantically looked all around outside. Nobody. I looked throughout the inside of the house. Nobody. Then I started to wonder if somehow my cellphone made a noise for some unknown reason, so I turned it on and saw a push notification from The Simpson's Tapped Out game, which I had installed the other day, but never got around to playing other than to fire it up once and quit. I searched for the phrase I heard on google, and it turns out that this game uses sound clips from Simpsons characters in their push notifications to remind you to come back and play the game when you haven't played for awhile. This was the first time it had done this. The voice that nearly gave me a heart attack was Homer Simpson's. I, of course, didn't realize this as I barely understood what it was even saying to me as I was deep asleep when the damn thing went off. I went from extremely frightened to extremely pissed off, with my anger directed at the programmers for making their product wake me up and scare the bejeezus out of me. Uninstall. Fuck you EA.

Smile:
I can laugh at myself now for being afraid that Homer Simpson was going to kill me (though I still think audio push notifications suck major balls). Now I'm just glad the damn thing didn't go off in a professional setting.

I think there's a way you can disable all push notifications.

There is, but I am so annoyed that they put them in at all, I decided I would rather just uninstall the app.

:) : Everyone at work got a raise, including me, that kicks in next month. It's only a 2% increase, but I'll takes what I can gets.

 : Mom got an even bigger raise at work, so she's in a very good mood. She's pretty sure they're just trying to butter her up so she doesn't retire, but she was still doing the "I got a raise" jig around the house a couple days ago, anyway

:| : I've heard rumors that they're thinking about hiring a full time person to work in the file room which, if true, means they won't need me there anymore. This doesn't bother me in the slightest, since I've already been put on payroll and it really just means that I'd end up going back to my old 3-day-a-week work schedule. I just wonder why no one thinks to inform me of these things personally and I end up hearing about them through third parties.

:D : The Month of Horror cometh! I am prepared

:) Picked up a WiiU in advance of yesterday's Hyrule Warriors release and have been loving it. Ducktales Remastered (I was holding off buying it for PS3 because I felt it needed to be played on a Nintendo system) is a joy, NSMBWU is just close enough to oldschool SMW that it feels nostalgic and yet new at the same time, and of course Hyrule Warriors is jaw-droppingly good, but maybe that's just because I've loved Dynasty Warriors for a decade+ now. Kinda wish I had picked it up earlier, but that's okay, there's plenty of time to play still.

:| Back to work after nigh on a month off. I was ready, I was starting to get bored honestly, and I actually like my job, but still, who really wants a vacation to end? Was happy to see the handful of people I call friends at work, especially since I worked with 2 of my favorite people the first 2 days, so that was cool. Slightly less happy about the number of people asking me about my relationship because I kinda think it's crumbling through no fault/intention of either of us, just a combination of distance and circumstances, but I'm not willing to truly admit that even to myself, and don't really want to get into it.

:(
And that's not a strong enough emoticon (because honestly, there isn't one)... Some of those "circumstances" are not 1, not 2, but *3* family members incredibly sick.
-- My oldest cousin (~43ish?) has been sick for ages due to Fen-Phen... it's rearing its ugly head, hospitalized her, kidneys damn near gone, waiting on a lung transplant... They're saying it could be 8-12 months wait, but honestly some of the other doctors say she's not going to make 8-12 months. But her spirit is absolutely indomitable. She's perky, bubbly, optimistic. If you talked to her on the phone, you would never know anything was wrong.
-- My mother has a similar outlook for the most part, though she's getting very tired. She's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer almost a year and a half ago now, and was sick for a good six months before that without a diagnosis. She barely eats because it hurts, and is just so thin. She's in the "statistically unlikely to be alive" level of survival since diagnosis, considering she's not doing any sort of chemo/radiation (her brother, 20 years ago, had brain cancer and went through every available treatment, she saw how it affected him and got very little out of it for the torture it caused him, so she didn't want to go through that). My father, big brother, and I went out last Wednesday and picked out a space in a mausoleum at the cemetary. Figured it was one thing we could do ahead of time so that it was one less thing to deal with when the time actually comes, but holy shit it was hard to deal with at the time.
-- And possibly the worst of all, my favorite aunt (by far) is dying. Unlikely to make more than another few days, dying. She's had heart problems for a good 10-12 years now, but in the last month or so it seemed to take a turn for the worse (although that's just as far as we know, it might have been coming for much longer and my uncle just didn't want to talk about it), and in the last week or two she's been hospitalized and isn't coming out. She absolutely refuses to get an LVAD put in, and isn't currently able to take a transplant, and now is on palliative care the past few days. Mom tells me as of today she's not even drinking any more. I'm going over tomorrow, either when I get out of work or when I wake up (depending on when my uncle responds to my text), since when I texted him today he said he was tired himself and wanted to go to bed. I've stopped to see my uncle a couple times, and that's just a terrible situation - they have no kids, and now his wife of 30+ years is dying before his eyes while his big sister is also not far behind, so he feels like he has no one/nothing left. I got to see her once, and she smiled and took my hand, but wasn't able to stay awake more than a couple seconds.

I don't know why I typed all that out. I think somehow it's helping to just... say it. I'm usually eloquent, but when my emotions run high I end up just gritting my teeth/clenching my jaw and not talking. It's the only way I can keep myself from breaking down. But I can type still and just let it out, at least a little. Sorry for the downer, folks.
