I can't stand when people call the NES "The Nintendo", but oddly enough, I have no issue with people calling the SNES "The Super Nintendo". Maybe it's more of a knee-jerk reaction to people calling the Genesis "The Sega", which is just the worst misnomer in all of gaming. >_<

"Sness" and "Ness" make me downright homicidal.

And the NES is indeed the Nintendo, just as the Atari 2600 is the Atari.

Browsed around my Sega CD's memory yesterday for the first time ever. Looks like the previous owner was into Lunar 2, NBA Jam, and Tomcat Alley. An interesting mix.

Why do I have to download 6 gigs of "assets" every time I try to play DC Universe Online?

Strongly contemplating deleting the entire game off my PS3 (I have the physical disc but with it's move to F2P it requires a ton of download).

I don't get being bent out of shape about this, it's just natural human speech to say acronyms as words if it is easily done. Most military acronyms do this (RADAR, LASER, HALO, FUBAR). There's plenty of gaming cases for this too (e.g. DotA.)

Once I get the true ending for Persona 4 Golden I'll probably move on to Persona 3 Portable myself. I've totally fallen in love with this series.

But then I also have Danganronpa 2 I need to get through.

Too many games.

I'm with Stark. Stuff like this doesn't bother me. Hell, even calling the NES "The Nintendo" doesn't really bother me. Not only do people have a natural tendency to pronounce acronyms, but they also have a natural tendency to shorten names. That's how the Nintendo Entertainment System became " The Nintendo." That's how the Xbox 360 (and lately the Xbox One) get shortened to just "The Xbox." That's how people end up with nicknames (Edward becomes Ed, Michael becomes Mike, etc.) It's just how people are.

I do, however, take issue with people referring to the various Sega consoles as "The Sega." Each system as a distinctive, separate name, the least you could do is use it.

My one buddy refers to the SNES as "Snees"... almost like he's saying Sneeze. Only guy I've ever found that pronounces it that way.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

Well, technically, the Sega Master System was called "The Sega System" in marketing for most of it's pre-Genesis life.

Obviously this person is a horrible monster who should be reported to the authorities at once.
