I enjoyed Mirai Nikki. I found it really addicting and it has tons of plot twists. It about as far away from hard-sci as you can get though, so if you are looking for something realistic you should look elsewhere. As far as the Gore is concerned, gore in any anime never really bothered me though, and I don't think it's that bad. I will also mention that the Japanese subbed version is the way to go.

It also had one of the BEST intros ever.

Edit: another thing I forgot to mention is that you MUST watch the OVA after the anime.

Don't ask... :?
I have a soft spot for this series, and I just realized it's the first anime I ever saw.
I loved that anime too. way back in the almost late 90's.

Is this the US version or the JPN one?

US version is quite butchered. From what I've read and heard, its not really connected to the original japanese broadcast.

The US redubbing has very little to do with the original source product. They basically watched the episode in japanese and changed the plot to a zany original US show full of gags and nonsense.

The JPN anime was a little more serious and the US is way out there.

You can still find a few US dubbed videos on Youtube. I saw a few the other day just for fun. I'm pretty sure the Bad guy Big cheese from SPC is the same voice for Escargoon in Kirby Right back at ya.
I would argue it's not butchered at all, because the American licensees were never given the entire thing.

They sent the master tapes of the show with the footage with no audio or scripts of any kind.

Saban entertainment had to take the footage and develop a show out of it.

Awesomely enough, finally, both versions are available in the US on DVD! Very very cool.
Especially because no one believed me this show existed. >_>

I found out today the characters from this were going to be in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, but the rights holders didn't respond, or something.

Samurai Pizza Cats is the first commercial released "abridged series" and it is awesome. And from what I heard the original is pretty boring and forgettable, but I haven't watched it myself to be honest.

What I have seen is the Japanese OP on youtube, and the American one is waaaaaaaaaaaay better

So I got bored yesterday morning and discovered that not only was Samurai Pizza Cats the first anime I watched, but the year was 1995. I can remember that morning, I watched these three shows:

Samurai Pizza Cats
Mega Man
Dragonball

I also found out that Dragonball had a little test run in the 90's by Funimation. For years I've been trying to find another show with a little monkey kid riding a cloud, because I had no idea that it aired on TV before the 2000's.

Started watching Tokyo Ghoul last night loving it so far watched the first 6 episodes in one sitting. Only thing that bugs me is the show is really brutal in terms of gore so there is a hell of a lot of censoring even on Hulu where it's behind an age barrier :P.

Can I just say that Yuno is really demented but in comparison everyone else seems much more so? I mean I'm on episode 16 of Mirai nIkki, and great show but man is Yuno crazy....she scares me but I think I trust her more than any other character if I was in Yukki's shoes....

Yeah there is a reason behind why she is that way and why she knows so much and that is explained later in another crazy plot twist.

One funny way I found out about the anime was I typed in "craziest anime characters" into youtube and Yuno popped up. She's right up there with Kyoko and that insane dude from baccano, and the crazy characters from When they cry.

If you are watching the dubbed version go back and watch a subbed episode so you can hear the Japanese voice actor for Yuno. She did a really good job and thoroughly gave me the creeps every time she said "Yukkii".
