What RPG are you playing right now?

Blitzball isn't as bad when you realize you just need to score one goal, then take the ball behind your own goal; the AI doesn't know how to deal with that, so you can spend the rest of the time reading a book or something.

Not really sure what to think of Persona 3.
I'm about 10 hours in, and on the Second Full Moon, and things would be going good if I didn't realize this game was 70-85 hours long at a minimum.
In some ways the game is pretty addicting in that I'll truck through and keep going as you can't really get lost and the game is streamlined. But to be honest, if I wasn't on a break, I'm not sure if I'd keep playing. You're doing the same cycle over and over again, I'm not sure where the actual depth is in this game?

The underwater section is the worst part of the game by far.SNESdrunk wrote:Not yet, I did get the thing that turns Gobi into a giant fish, which was useful for about 2 secondsAck wrote:Have you gotten the mole yet? Because I recall he made Gobi seem downright useful.

The attempts at humor with Gobi are so incredibly cringe-worthy. I'm not sure I've ever felt bad for a game before.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The underwater section is the worst part of the game by far.

I see you haven't played the SNES port of Pit-Fighter yet.SNESdrunk wrote:The attempts at humor with Gobi are so incredibly cringe-worthy. I'm not sure I've ever felt bad for a game before.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The underwater section is the worst part of the game by far.

No one feels pity for SNES Pit-Fighter. Only hatred.Ack wrote:I see you haven't played the SNES port of Pit-Fighter yet.SNESdrunk wrote:The attempts at humor with Gobi are so incredibly cringe-worthy. The further you get the more important it is to be mindful of the fusions you're doing. You need to balance the strengths and weaknesses of your personas and your teammates; if you aren't mindful you can be easily blown out by enemy mobs.Violent By Design wrote:In some ways the game is pretty addicting in that I'll truck through and keep going as you can't really get lost and the game is streamlined. You are correct, however, that the general gameplay cycle doesn't change much. It's the story that's laid on top of the cycle that gets more interesting as you move along.

How do you go about fusing weapons? I fused my highest level guy for my first one. I assume something like that would be more costly later in the game?
Also, what do things like charm, courage and academics do exactly? Are they worth spending time on?
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
To be honest I never really explored the weapon fusing much. I found I was rarely using weapon attacks beyond the beginning of the game (I preferred to hit elemental weakness).Violent By Design wrote:I see.

Charm, Courage, and Academics are your social stats. You need certain levels of social stats to start certain social links, or to take particular options in those links (which might give you the biggest benefit to advancing the link). Since the social links tie directly into powering up your personas (bonus exp at fusion, up to 5 level's worth, as well as final fusions for an arcana unlocking) it's definitely worth exploring those.
