I watched the pilot for Gotham... it was barely decent. I don't think they needed to try to introduce that many characters all at once. I don't think I will keep up with this one.
Also watched the premier of season 2 of The Blacklist. I enjoy season 1 and season 2 is off to a good start. I'll be recording and watching this new season for sure.
And lastly I am excited that they are shooting the new season of True Detective. The first series was amazing!
So what have you guys been watching lately?

@8bit odd I found the pilot to be interesting...(though it felt like I was watching a mini movie with how long it was so I can see why it introduced all those characters). As if I didn't have too many shows to keep up with as is, this one is actually decent to me

I was really surprised by Once Upon a Time's season premiere last night. Rather than do their own spin on the characters from Frozen, it feels like they pretty much just transplanted the movie characters into Once Upon a Time's continuity. So, this is about as close as you can get to Frozen 2.
The actors really looked like real life versions of the movie characters, and they spent a lot of time referencing events from the movie. I was also surprised to see a couple non-human characters from the movie pop up on Once Upon a Time too.
I don't know if a show has ever taken an animated movie and put them into a live action show's continuity
ABC is doing some fun stuff with Marvel and Disney licenses.
There was some really cool shout outs to Beauty and the Beast and the Sorcerer's Apprentice in the episode too

I've never watched Once Upon a Time, but I did see the commercial for them bringing Frozen in. So its based on the Disney versions of the fairy tales.

I haven't watched any of the series before and tuned in out of curiosity and wasn't that impressed with it, quite honestly. The snow effects were fine (and the troll looked great), but some of dialogue and plot decisions just rubbed me the wrong way.Gamerforlife wrote:I was really surprised by Once Upon a Time's season premiere last night. The interactions between Elsa and Anna were all right, but having Elsa refer to Kristoff as "reindeer boy" seemed out of character. And why did they feel the need to bring in the threat of Hans and his older brothers when they clearly implied at the end of the film that his siblings would be decidedly unhappy with the little dipshit, not rally behind him? The only character that I thought was spot on was Sven, and he didn't even have a single line
Nah. This ain't a Frozen 2. This is strickly AU verse.
Which is perfectly fine, since that's what Once Upon A Time is.
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
Gotham Episode 2 was more of the same.
One of the problems is that this show thinks it's more epic than it actually is. The titles, the sweeping vistas of Gotham City, none of it really adds up to anything than a semi-serialized cop show. The good cop bad cop dynamic is played a bit too broad, and Bruce's transformation into Batman starting at 12 years old is too obvious, especially with Gordon's constant housecalls. Catgirl is the highlight here, and I'd frankly be more interested in a "Killing Season 3" style show following her and a bunch of street kids. The two villains of this episode nearly felt like they got pulled out of a Schumacher Batman film and dropped into NYPD Blue. It actually reminded me of the episode of Adventures of Lois and Clark where the Jeffersons played the toyman... and woman.

My mom, brother and commonlaw sister-in-law all love Once Upon a Time. I've been meaning to get into it again.
Also wanna get them into Glee since I think they'll like it. But then again I think everyone would have the same level of like for everything I'm into.

Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
@Jerecee not to pick on you or 8bit, but did you guys not read the premise of the show? It's supposed to be a origin story and more focused on young Gordon. It's even classified as a crime show too(with some action and drama mixed in). For what it's worth and what that what that tells of the show it's more than worth it to watch to me, but not everybody (especially because a story focused on one character that has intrigued me of the batman universe since I was little(besides batman/robin/villians) yes please
)

Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I don't think any of my complaints had anything to do with the concept of the show. I understand the premise just fine. Do I think it would be a better show if Batman was on it? Probably. But that's only because of the execution of the show as it is. Could a show about Gotham pre-Batman be really really good? Of course, but the show, thus far, has failed to impress me on its own merits.
