So, i've just bought Virtua Cop Rebirth and 2 G-Con 2's again after selling them a couple of years back. I cant seem to get the guns to calibrate on my tv. I.m running it all through a Jap 60 GB PS3 and a standard tv (non plasma or LCD). I also have 2 of those yellow, t-shape connector leads.
When i get to the gun calibrate screen, i can hear the firing sound effect when i pull the trigger but the cross-hair is jumping everywhere except where i point it!
I had none of this trouble last time i owned the game, i'm sure it's only something very simple but i'm damned if i can figure it out.
Any help would be very much appreciated!!!
Oh, and the game disc is brand new so there are no scratches etc.

Re: G-Con 2 problem........HELP!
Is the yellow wire from the g-con plugged into the yellow rca cable going into your scart block?
If it's not, that's the problem.
If it's connected, then I say it's that the PS3 just isn't compatible with the g-cons which is the more likely problem. You'll have to play them on a proper PS2.
Also, this should have been posted in the technical help forum.

I'm running via s-video so i dont have a scart block. Does the yellow wire plug into the yellow video socket that is free?Niode wrote:Is the yellow wire from the g-con plugged into the yellow rca cable going into your scart block?
I was playing it on my PS3 last time round so the problem lies somewhere else unfortunatelyIf it's connected, then I say it's that the PS3 just isn't compatible with the g-cons which is the more likely problem. You'll have to play them on a proper PS2.

Aren't you from the UK though? Why are you using s-video? I don't think the g-cons support s-video cables since there is no way of getting the video sync from the cable without modification. If the cable has a yellow ringed female rca connector on it then you would plug the g-con into that. Some third party av cables have them, some don't.bennythejet wrote:I'm running via s-video so i dont have a scart block. Just to make sure the gcons are working, connect your PS3 with the standard AV cable it came with (the one with 3 rca cables and a scart block) plug the g-cons yellow t connector into the yellow rca connector on the scart block and plug the yellow connector from the av cable into the t connector and then plug the scart in. That should work unless the g-cons are broken.

Niode, you're a legend, my man!!!
I remember last time i had a third-party s-video cable which included the yellow video wire, now i have an official Sony one that doesn't. This obviously explains why i have been having trouble.
Thanks bro!!!!
I just tried it with the standard av cable and it works flawlessly. The picture is not great though as i dont have the scart block to plug the 3 rca cables into. Would having a scart block make a difference to the video quality?Just to make sure the gcons are working, connect your PS3 with the standard AV cable it came with (the one with 3 rca cables and a scart block) plug the g-cons yellow t connector into the yellow rca connector on the scart block and plug the yellow connector from the av cable into the t connector and then plug the scart in. No problem. You wouldn't see any difference from using a SCART block. All it does is map the composite signal to the relevant video pin on the SCART. You would need to get a proper RGB SCART to improve the picture quality. The good thing here is PS2 cables work exactly the same as they do on PS3. So if you can find a third party RGB scart cable with the yellow rca output on it you'll be laughing. That's the best quality signal you can get for SDTVs.
