I hope that $500 was a typo on your part. You can get a modular 750 watt EVGA psu 80 plus gold rated for just over $100 after rebate from newegg.

The amount of solid state drive space may be overkill. Regular drives are getting faster. Also, why a DVD Ram drive? What would it be used for in a gaming rig other than loading games onto the computer?

It was exaggeration because I didn't have a clue of how much they cost. thanks for the feedback.

I play old school games such as Warcraft III, Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and various other series and I still have the original DVDs for them all. Putting in the keycode would be too much work for many older games. That's the reason for the DVD player

I don't need a blu ray player at least, I have a PS3 and my Vaio laptop that fills that part =D

Out of curiosity... one thing I would like to play and I'm not sure how powerful of a computer you would need, but Smash Bros. Project M looks like an absolute fantasy to play! I would definitely hope to play that along my long list of games to try out

Buy a 300 dollar laptop and a PS4, then you can game for the nest 7-8 years. Use the laptop for internet.

Whatever I get for that range will be far more powerful than my Sony Vaio laptop which is 5 years old and still packs a wallup for what I do today, but it's out of date and there's a short that makes it unplayable for video games so it's only for the office.

I'll probably get this tower to start off with, some memory to have a good enough selection of games. The rest I'll see what I can work with. I want that awesome custom cooling though, lol >.< unless that degrades too quickly.

First of all you should know everything breaks down with time, and price might actually not have anything to do with it.

Second of all with more expensive hardware you are getting a lot of diminishing returns. Simply put a 400$ graphics card isn't going to be able to play new games for twice as long as a 200$ card.

So while 2000$ might get you a PC that can play all games for 5 years, 1000$ can get you a PC that plays all games for 4 years, though you might have to take down the quality of shadows and stuff (and really, who even pays attention to the shadows?).

So it's better to spend an average/good amount every 4-5 years to constantly have a good (but not amazing) PC, than spending all your money on one amazing PC.

Besides if you buy a super expensive graphics card it will be "harder" to replace if it busts up.

I was just wondering since you specifically said DVD RAM drive.
