Not including the Deadalus by DavidG, then I would think the consensus is the Magic Key converter from Razoola. The Neo Geo Converter II had better compatibility than the previous iterations and is probably the best market based (ie, cheaper than magic key).

The !arcade! Phantom I and Phantom II are both rife with compatibility issues and the cart fit is extremely poor (too tight, think NES slot on the first clone systems).

The Fusion's worked on everything I've thrown at it, but I only have about 6 games so that's not a huge sample size.

Honestly, it doesn't get a TON of play around here, because I enjoy playing my games 2p (thus my love of fighters and puzzles) so most of my NG gaming gets done on my buddy's cabinet since a bunch of us are at his house at least once a week most weeks. If one of you guys with a larger collection than mine that I could trust (which to be honest is most of the guys in this thread) wants, I could certainly loan it to you to try out for a bit.

There's a list of games over in the neo converter thread that are prone to the most issues. I think its SVC Chaos, one of the KoF's, one of the Metal Slugs, one of the Sam Sho's and Strikers 1945 I think.

Hrmm... well I have KoF 02 (with possibly 94-96 from that Yaton thread on the way), Metal Slug 2 and SamSho 1 at my disposal. Let me go consult that list and see if any of them match.

And now with those carts in from the group buy, I'm finally looking at doing replacement labels...

Of course this puts me at a delicate balance. I know if I replace some of my destroyed labels with those awesome Grizz labels, I'm going to want to replace them all for uniformity -- and because god DAMN they're beautiful. But part of me says "Why kill the labels on your carts that aren't destroyed already?"... but part of me says "Screw it, you're buying these for you, not for resale value"...

Too many conflicting emotions

The ones from the group buy, it's not a question, it's getting done. They're just terrible, completely ripped off, split down the center, written on already, etc etc. It's just questioning if I'm going to be able to mentally deal with replacing some but not all

What's your line of thought though? To me, they were never really meant to be seen, so I don't get the whole "preservation" take on them, especially when they're in ruins already. But then, I drill holes in my consoles (or rather, have holes drilled in them) to upgrade the video out to standardized jacks, so I'm not exactly a high-end preservationist.

haha Yaton carts, I'm buying Double Dragon and Real Bout Special from his next round. And yes I'm giving those carts a bath and replacing the labels. Don't want to catch ebola.
