You're on about the La Casa and Zombi films, but I have never heard that about Dead Alive. The film was never marketed as such, unlike the aforementioned Italian flicks. Jackson has stated in an interview being influenced by Raimi's work, but then again, what splatter horror/comedy isn't?

This is the poorest sequel I have had the misfortune of watching in some time.

Verdict: Avoid.

tbh I really feel this way about the first one now, too, despite liking it upon release. It is a film that has gotten worse with each subsequent viewing...not because it has aged poorly but because once the effects overload loses its initial impact and you have to pay attention to the other components of the film, you realize what an addled mess it is.

I bet it is probably safe to say that the Dawn of the Dead remake is still Snyder's best film.

I really do like that remake. It's one of, if not the best, modern remakes of a classic horror movie from the new millennium.

Been saying the same thing for years now. Watch out Dave, you'll feel the same way about SIN CITY soon.

Although a bit laborious to watch, I still think WATCHMEN isn't as bad as some claim it to be. Far from perfect, but it remains a decent period piece. Like Scott Pilgrim, the comic/graphic novel was overrated, so the movie did a good job with the source material.

Yes, David Carradine. Overacting is relative. This isn't shakespeare; it's a campy horror/comedy with square dancing zombies.

This may come down to a matter of personal taste and preference. I like movies with lot's of style - even at the expense of story. Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Kubric, Burton, and Snyder are among my favorites. Each has his own style, his own way of shooting a film. A lot of people call Burton a hack; I think he reinterprets his influences. A lot of people call Kubric pretentious; I think he shot striking visuals. A lot of people hated Sucker Punch; I loved it. I love 300 and watchmen too. Man of Steel is the only time Snyder has disappointed me. This is just my taste.

I've seen the first two MB Transformers, and I could honestly not tell what the fuck was going on during most of the action sequences.

I really don't care at all for the MB Transformers movies. I like the occasional brainless, action movie as much as the next person, but those movies just do not fill that void for me. They feel way too long, most of the characters are so vapid they're almost non-existent and the only parts of the films I even slightly enjoyed, the action, were either too short or too muddled to keep my attention.

So, no Transformers, I don't care if your movie has a giant, metal T-Rex and a bunch of explosions in it. I can no longer bare to sit through the moments in-between.

Wait. What?

Burton is a target for satire and bad jokes, but I can't remember a time a note worthy critic named him a hack. Most of his films receive 4-star reviews across the board, so I'm totally amiss with this comment.

Please shed some light on this "A LOT of people call Burton a hack" stuff.
