Re: Dragon Ball Z DVD/Blu-ray Box sets and such....
I get sticker shock from those dragon box releases.
Years ago, I had all the orange box sets of DBZ. I liked that you could line the boxes up on the shelf to form a big picture of Shenron. That's the kind of thing that makes an OCD collector smile. Unfortunately, I lost my orange boxes in a divorce, but I kept all my favorite video games, so it's alright.
I never cared for Kai. I like the idea of speeding up the pace of DBZ, but the voice acting of the Kai dub rubs me the wrong way.
I saw that "rock the dragon" box set yesterday. I really prefer the pioneer/ocean dub for the better voice actors. Let's be honest, a lot of the DBZ love comes from nostalgia, right? These are the episodes I first saw on toonami in the '90s. I have a bunch of these on VHS, but not a whole set. This may seem like heresy to hardcore DBZ fandom, but I miss the "Rock the Dragon" opening theme. It's ridiculous hair metal cornball guilty pleasure that my inner thirteen-year-old self loves. One complaint regarding this set: How the hell do you fit this on a shelf?

Haha yeah, glad I have a full set. But man it is so tempting, or to pick up some of the last few cheaper ones to hold onto... you never know. The others are legendary rare artifacts at this point.SirGawain wrote:Geez. I didn't know the price exploded on these. I have the first Dragon Box and it looks like I need to sell it and get a nice chunk of the blu rays.

I also have the manga boxset. Also a pretty penny

No kidding. If I had the extra cash I would definitely pick up the other ones. Chances are they will go up in price from what I am seeing. They seem to be the definitive original edition that everyone wants, so there might be an ever-rising market. I doubt they will go down in price

Ugh please don't tempt me right now....I want those so freaking bad just so I can rewatch the series and have it physically

It's only a matter of time 'till Dragon Box gets re-released on Blu-Ray.
Re: Dragon Ball Z DVD/Blu-ray Box sets and such....
If they release it on blu-ray as is(just remaster the graphics so they don't look weird on a big screen) with no major edits I'd buy it. That would be annoying as heck to market it as dragon box on blu ray and yet it be kai or something in realitysamsonlonghair wrote:It's only a matter of time 'till Dragon Box gets re-released on Blu-Ray.
