I don't have friends either. Unfortunately I can't escape the fact that I have family.
Stupid as it may sound, I actually purchased a cheap well-used scrappy DS specifically for this purpose. So if my brother wrecks that I'll live. If not, I'll have a spare DS!
I can't imagine how he could damage the games - only issue would be if he lost them completely of course.
I subtly hinted that after he plays this one he may want to buy his own.

Don't be a hater. All the old-school Final Fantasy games are awesome.
You know you're gonna have to break down and buy an R5 eventually.

The DS release huh? I'll warn you, it's a very different experience from previous FFIV ports, and it had a lot of balance issues. I don't know if they've been corrected or not.noiseredux wrote:OMG Final Fantasy IV on Steam now!

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I figured they were gonna bring the PSP version over, as a lot of PSP games have come to Steam lately. But alas, no After Years. Either way, it's cool that a lot more FF games are on Steam lately. There's also rumors of the XIII trilogy being ported at some point.MrPopo wrote:The DS release huh? Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I don't understand why they haven't ported FF IX to complete the PS1 trilogy, and why in general more retro console games don't get released on Steam/GoG. Sega released many Mega Drive games and a few Dreamcast ones.....at decent prices....compared to the Virtual Console...noiseredux wrote: I figured they were gonna bring the PSP version over, as a lot of PSP games have come to Steam lately. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Well, with the PS1 trilogy, FFVII and VIII were ported at the time; it's not running on a PS1 emulator, it was natively ported. IX never got that treatment, so porting it isn't as straightforward as fixing the bugs that prevent Win95 games from running on modern 64 bit Windows.ZeroAX wrote:I don't understand why they haven't ported FF IX to complete the PS1 trilogy, and why in general more retro console games don't get released on Steam/GoG. oh I know that, but they did port the DS ports which were kind of shit, so they might as well port an amazing gameMrPopo wrote: Well, with the PS1 trilogy, FFVII and VIII were ported at the time; it's not running on a PS1 emulator, it was natively ported. heck they just released an HD port of FFX, shouldn't that also be on steam?
