Yes, and it was a 1994 launch title at that.

Another thing worth mentioning is King's Field (Japan) seems to have been the first fully polygonal 3D first person RPG. Other 3D RPGs before it used sprites for monsters, or sprites for the player's hands/weapons.

So are these games anything like Ultima Underworld? They looked pretty similar and I enjoyed that game, and I need to expand my pitiful PS1 collection.

If you want to play the best "Ultima Underworld" type of game, you want this.

King's Field isn't as complex as the Underworld games, the KF series is more simplistic. But not to a detrimental effect.
