*Please look at my last post for the pictures and details*
Hi everyone,
So I read the comments on my last post about staying away from the Alienware laptop and took it to heart. It's too expensive and will under perform for what you purchase. The link to that is at the bottom.
Now I am looking for a gaming tower and was wondering if this is any good. Link will be at the bottom from eBay.
Another question, I haven't owned a tower in an extremely long time, I have a tendency to system restore my PC's on impulse because I have too many games for my own good, install fan mods and it crams too much stuff. Do I require a monitor in order to see when I'm system restoring as well as getting it started? I rather just plug the tower straight into an HDMI cable and get started.
And my final question is: is this a good PC for its price? I figure I already have a laptop that can do my office work. Now I'd like a rig that I can just keep stationary at home.
By the way: My budget is within $1,000, but if I'm going to be spending that much, it needs to look nice and not a clunky looking tower that looks like it was from the 90's >.>; preferably white as well please.

Any qualms against building your own? You can do better than what's linked and actually know more about what's in it.

I don't have any knowledge about specs of PCs nor do I know about rigging anythingTSTR wrote:Any qualms against building your own? You can do better than what's linked and actually know more about what's in it.

Neither did/do I. Just read articles, forum threads, and watch videos about gaming PC's. One way I started to get a better understanding of what was best for my budget was by watching those "Best Gaming PC Build for Under $". You'll get a much better PC by building it rather than buying it pre-built.

I don't think that PC is worth $600. You can build a much better machine for that price. The biggest detriment to that PC is the super low end graphics card. You will not be running anything modern on that PC at 1080p with acceptable detail or framerates. The lowest graphics card I would consider for a gaming PC would be a Nvidia GTX 750Ti.
You can certainly build a gaming PC for that price, but I would find someone to help you build it. You will be much happier and end up with a better PC. Also, keep in mind that most pre-built PC's only come with a 1yr warranty, where as, most individual PC parts come with a minimum of 3yr warranty.

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I think it will be on my things to do list later on when I head back to the city.Frag Mortuus wrote:I don't think that PC is worth $600. You can also try asking in a PC hardware forum. Those goes know their stuff better and will probably be "more excited" to help.

Re: Looking for a new gaming PC - Is this good?
I could help you put together a parts list if you want. Keeping it below $1,000 is pretty easy. Keeping it under $600 is doable.
I would need to know a few things first, though.
First is preferences (If you have none, that's fine):
Intel or AMD
AMD or Nvidia
Size, Normal ATX kind of tower, or Smaller form factor like MicroATX or MiniITX (If you haven't assembled a computer before, ATX is what you should use.)
Do you need a copy of Windows?
What resolution do you want your games to run at (1080P? Higher?)
Do "need" the games maxed?
Do you need controllers, or input devices, a monitor?
How much do you want the box to cost?
How long does it need to last without additional investment or replacement?
If you want to answer that stuff I can toss up a tentative parts list that should, at the least, get you started. I'm sure others will chime in at that point too.
And the materials online about how to assemble a PC are very in depth and go step by step. If you get to that stage, I, and others, will undoubtedly offer those materials.
