Very interesting reading the perspectives so far. I find Sload and JMustang's arguments very compelling. I think ZenErik chimed in about having buffs, etc and John's point about world bosses not seeming tactically challenging. I have yet to get the game but spent plenty of time with the beta and will certainly get it soon. If your experiences so far have been that open-world bosses and certain end-game talent isn't exactly reward then that's a very different experience from the PvE elements in WoW that I find very challenging and rewarding. There's certain raid-boss mechanics that kill off the entire raid if they're not paying attention to what's going which requires knowledge and understanding to down the boss.

I think that's where the game might fall short or has yet to be implemented? Have they thought about endgame mechanics that require certain strategies to successfully down? Do they feel as intense and require as much precision and knowledge of the encounters to master? That'd be what I would be looking for in a game that is a MMOFPS whether it's explicitly marketed as such or not. That similar experience that gives you a sense of achievement when you complete it. Because the world events that I experienced in the beta attracted me but more or less amounted to wail on the boss til it's dead, collect loot and meander off.

Supposedly we will be getting the first Raid mission today called Vault of Glass. I think Chronozilla linked to an article that states that your fireteam will have to figure out most of the mission for themselves as well as having high level enemies and stuff hunting them down. One playtester group took 16 hours or something stupid to finish the Raid. And I think it's six players mandatory.

I'm not very familiar with lots of MMO's (just STO) so I don't know if that's what you're after, Blu, old bean. If they keep adding raids and Strikes though they can keep the game going quite well until the next inevitable expansion (fingers crossed it's Saturn).

I'm still not 100% convinced by PvP. It doesn't take much to be killed and I still question the power balances. I seem to either get ten kill streaks or one kill and then get gatted in the back. It's not a total disaster and I might just need to become attuned to it as I am more familiar with Battlefield/Halo/Fall of Cybertron. At least there are regular drops of some decent gear even if you suck.

And yeah, Phogoth is the worst. Did a level 24 strike with a buddy and a random that went to shit. Went in all smug as well but if it isn't old Phogie getting you with his eye lasers it's some twatty Wizard holding your attention while a Knight sneaks up and stabs you in the arse.

You should be level 26 for the raid, which means I am out for now. Maybe we could try and get a group together to do it next Tuesday or Thursday?

GET FUNKY NOW!!

I am about an item away from level 22, hoping I can get to 26 in time to get in on the raid.

Got my first piece of Legendary today, man I love this game. Hope they keep up the support, like...forever!

Just so you guys know, you can start the raid at level 23 or above it's just all the enemies will be at 26. You can't be below that though. My friend at level 20 was flat out stopped from joining my fireteam when I started the raid.

You can also start it on your own although I didn't get any further than the first area which I suspect you need a few people for. And if you leave it gives you a "resume" or "restart" option instead of erasing all progress.

As a side effect of the raid being added I was bombarded by randoms trying to add me on XBLA. I didn't like it.

Just missed hanging out with John last night, which makes me sad. Apparently he didn't want to stay up until midnight playing.

Yeah midnight my time buddy. ;) I think I just missed you, my fireteam vacated, I checked and you had signed out. Oh well... looked like you were running Venus anyway, which I'm not to yet.

I would be, but 1.) I probably won't be on until like 11:30 your time and 2.) I'm way below your level, but I'll hop in and try if you're on.
