Like I said in the beginning let's wait until it's over to actually try to have a discussion about this. Things should be interesting in the next week since I think the issue should be hitting critical mass soon after some recent reddit things.

I was posting with the wrong mind set originally by trying to explain what it was about instead of what was being done because "it's just video games" is just short for you don't care, that's fine, all be it extremely dismissive to tell me or anyone else what we should care about.

I just find that sentiment hilarious because I'll put money on if you tweeted that at Anita about her videos, which "it's just video games" fully applies to, you would be doxxed and harassed.

On the other hand, so does the community's "white knightism" ("Let me protect women's rights so I might increase my chances of scoring....what's that about Saudi Arabia stoning a woman? Nah, who cares, it happened outside the first world, not my problem").
I think this is an interesting point, because of how true it is. Yet, it brings to mind another point in this whole thing, how a lot of gamers use video games as escapism. Its about getting away from real life. Hell, that's one of those things I love about video games in the same way I love it about Conan the Barbarian stories- the guy can get the girl, and the girl is hot. I love that about games, because that's something I can't do in real life. Y'know, I always think about in movies, how the people always having relationship problems are so good looking or interesting that they could have easily gotten a date or had less relationship problems in real life. I especially notice this in high school movies and the like- if even a quarter of those type of people had been in my high school, they would have been so swarmed with people wanting to date them that they wouldn't have known what to done. Its the same thing in video games- everybody is hot, and things generally work out "good". Its about escapism, and a lot of gamers don't want their "male power fantasies" (hate that term) to be gone, because then they lose the reason they came in the first place.

I feel like this is something folks on any side of this issue would do well to take to heart.
This is something to be remembered, but then again, it could also be used as an argument in support of keeping the status quo, which wouldn't exactly make some people happy.

Perhaps it is just a declaration of what people who don't see things the same way as you feel.

I obviously didn't respond in a very tactful manner, for that I apologize. I have to point out that you have been on the offense from the jump towards anyone not sharing your opinion. Perhaps a little introspection would be wise before accusing others of being dismissive? Regardless of our difference of opinion about the importance of the matter, I do understand it means a great deal to you. I can appreciate that you don't want to feel belittled for that. This has been dangerously close to leaving "discussion" territory due to heated tempers and that is the fault of multiple parties, yourself included (sorry, but it's true). I believe that this is the reason some of the more eloquent members have tried to point out that we are "only talking about video games". Rather than an attack on your beliefs of what is important, an attempt to steer the thread back into a polite discourse.

I'll bow out now. Let me leave you with a sincere apology for any post that made you feel disregarded and a request that you extend that same courtesy for others who have made a genuine effort to engage with you politely and respectfully concerning this matter.

I thought it was one of his better posts too. I'm not sure who he was talking to though. Could you ask around and find out for me?

Yes I would like to apologize for being a dick. I've been sick for the last 2 weeks and irritable so that hasn't helped with my attitude on any of these matters. I also never had an intention of trying to change anyone's mind about any part of this and just was interested in posting what the facts were which I obviously lost sight of.

Honestly through the gamer gate thing, even if nothing changes, I've learned of some sites that do give a shit about ethics and being factual on reporting on things that hope I can continue to use as go to spots.
