Another Random Gaming Thought:
The amount of "shovelware" in a system's library is a testament to that library's strength, and the systems with the most shovelware (2600, NES, PC, PS1, PS2, WII) tend to have the most diverse, interesting libraries.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It's amazing how much movies and television influence my gaming choices.
After watching football, I want to play Madden (this applies to all sports). After watching a slasher movie, I enjoy Splatterhouse much more. Not big on COD games, but after watching a movie like BLACK HAWK DOWN I really get into 'em. Same with Wrestling, Batman, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, LOTR, etc.
This also goes for comic books. I wouldn't have kept playing Ultimate Alliance 2 if it wasn't for reading Civil War.
Strangely after I watch DOOM, I have no interest in playing Doom.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I kinda wonder/wish that I could somehow pull saves from my retron and other systems to use them with openemu on the go so I could keep playing certain games without having to lug around the consoles(or even needing another retron somehow). I mean usb converters, openemu, roms of games i own and I'd be set to some extent

The only proper reaction after watching Doom is to stick your head into a giant pot and bang on it with a spoon for about 20 minutes to hopefully kill the synapses that were related to your memories of the movie.Luke wrote:

I like it. It is not DOOM. But I like it.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:The only proper reaction after watching Doom is to stick your head into a giant pot and bang on it with a spoon for about 20 minutes to hopefully kill the synapses that were related to your memories of the movie.Luke wrote: Strangely after I watch DOOM, I have no interest in playing Doom.
But I like shitty things, so yeah.

Didn't stop me from laughing hard at Ryan's comment though.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I have barely scratched the surface of the PS1. I actually owned a PS2 first, and that wasn't until 2010 or so.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Random Gaming Thought:
The PS1's library is insane. I have hundreds of PS1 games, and there are well over 100 PS1 games on my "want" list. Nonetheless, I am constantly discovering new games for that system.
Last night, I discovered that Interplay released a sequel to Rock & Roll Racing (i.e., Red Asphalt) for the PS1. This morning, I discovered that Acclaim published Taito's RC de GO! for the PS1 in North America. Will the wonders never cease?!
I think I have 50-ish PS1 games. Mostly JRPGs.
But yeah, the game library looks huge. It's almost overwhelming.
And somewhat related, GameFAQs has had some write-ups about the imports lately:

I remember the PS1 launch back in 1995. I was convinced it would fail, as I figured this was a case of another random electronics company (like Panasonic or Philips) attempting to enter the video game market unprepared. I figured we'd see a repeat of the Nintendo vs. Sega battle with Nintendo winning by a narrow margin. Of course I was wrong, but I was 12 so it's somewhat forgivable (right?).

They finally fixed shadows in CS:GO for Mac. I knew things seemed a bit darker than normal.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'm so conflicted currently. I want to swap my 360, all its games, accessories, etc. and get everything on PS3. However, the few exclusives on 360 will haunt me if I don't have them. However, I'm not sure there are enough exclusives to warrant me owning the 360 still. There's Fable: Anniversary, Fable 2, and the Shmups. Everything else I can live without, or find somewhere else.
Hmmm. I also know that I probably can't get enough money for my 360 and games to get a PS3, unless I can make a flat out trade with someone or something. Hmmm.

Or better yet, keep at least one controller and the games you know you will kick yourself without and do emulation on the computer for those games and sell the rest(as long as you own them it's not wrong right? right? ). Plus if you have a pawn near you with a ps3 usually they might be running a deal like mine where I basically got it(320 gb model), + cords + 2 games for like $150 I think...Forlorn Drifter wrote:I'm so conflicted currently.
