Random Gaming Thought:
The PS1's library is insane. I have hundreds of PS1 games, and there are well over 100 PS1 games on my "want" list. Nonetheless, I am constantly discovering new games for that system.
Last night, I discovered that Interplay released a sequel to Rock & Roll Racing (i.e., Red Asphalt) for the PS1. This morning, I discovered that Acclaim published Taito's RC de GO! for the PS1 in North America. Will the wonders never cease?!

The PS1 library is interesting because it's so huge that a lot of cool stuff is just completely forgotten about or unknown.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Random Gaming Thought:

It doesnt help that a lot of the obscure low budget stuff had terrible box art and was often indistinguishable from the shovelware that plagued the system.

I know...This is the sort of thing I keep discovering. There were a ton of late-period, budget releases that are just fantastic games.alienjesus wrote:It doesnt help that a lot of the obscure low budget stuff had terrible box art and was often indistinguishable from the shovelware that plagued the system.
Apparently...I passed on a copy this morning -fastbilly1 wrote:RC de GO! is the best non Gran Turismo racing game on the console

If you like games like RC Proam and RocknRoll Racing, it is in that style. It is really RocknRoll with the customization of Gran Turismo. It is a solid little racer regardless of style. I recommend the arcade game 1000 Mile Milaga if you like the style aswell. It also goes as Great 1000 Mile Rally and if it pops up at auction rarely goes for more than $200
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
This can be applied to every system ever. Seriously the more I'm on this site the more it becomes true. There are games, that I think have some of the worst or oddest box art yet they seem to be games that people rave about the most. Heck even disney has had some games that sound like crap but the more I look at gameplay, they actually seem pretty good...alienjesus wrote:It doesnt help that a lot of the obscure low budget stuff had terrible box art and was often indistinguishable from the shovelware that plagued the system.
(although I'm not a fan of emulation, openemu is great. I use it to some extent just to try out games before I commit to it, though I can't do that with n64 games or some others because I need the adapters for the controllers

Incorrect. The Virtual Boys level of shovelware was so low, that if you go by averages, it has one of the best libraries ever made.darsparx wrote:This can be applied to every system ever.alienjesus wrote:It doesnt help that a lot of the obscure low budget stuff had terrible box art and was often indistinguishable from the shovelware that plagued the system.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I should've said "this can be applied to almost every system ever". Because there are so many games I would never have given a second thought because of the box art and dev/pub on it...fastbilly1 wrote:Incorrect.
