I absolutely love them.

Probably already on my list, but I beat DKC and SMB.3 yesterday.

One credit. One high score. One white flag.

In Taito's Front Line - which is included in Taito Legends 2 (PS2) - you play as a lone soldier tasked with overcoming incredible odds and destroying an enemy fort. To do so, you proceed through varied terrain from an overhead perspective, and shoot everything that crosses your path. Once you are about half-way to your goal, you can board various tanks that allow you more firepower and allow you to move a bit more rapidly. The tanks also allow you to take an extra hit before dying; so riding them is critical to survival. (Especially since the enemies in the last half of the game are also in tanks...which cannot be destroyed by your soldier's bullets.) Once you throw a grenade into the enemy's fort, it is destroyed, and an enemy soldier waves a white flag. The game then loops back to the beginning (but with a different background color).

The game's influence is undeniable, and game play elements it pioneered are present in everything from Capcom's Commando to SNK's Metal Slug and Bungie's Halo. The game has not held up very well, however, and I doubt I will spend much more time with it. (The hit detection is horrible, and the soldier shoots about as rapidly as the ship in Space Invaders.)

Don't really know what to say about this one. My feelings on it are it's a mixture of Assassin's Creed and Gears of War. Assassin's Creed with the platforming, and Gears of War with the shooting. The story is great until some undead peeps show up, then stuff got weird. Gameplay wise I'm not so sure it's great, and I hope the later installments are something better, mainly for fans of the series. I felt like the shooting and platforming was imprecise and not up to par. I understand this is now a 7 year old game and that the first Assassin's Creed wasn't perfect, but having played games that did it so much better I can't say I was the biggest fan. 6/10

It's almost a surprise that series took off. I really didn't like the first at all.

1. Sonic
2. Toejam & Earl
3. Mcdonald's Treasure Land Adventure
4. Decap Attack
5. Shadow Dancer

Decap Attack is pretty cool. The character feels great to control, the levels are linear but have "routes" (Similar to Sonic), and the bosses are alright. I think the character is the best part of the game, he feels so slick, and you can do some really interesting things with him and his various potions. Sadly, he feels over-developed for the game, as if he is too badass for his own engine. Still a fun romp, and could make for a very entertaining speedrun.

Shadow Dancer is perfection. Aside the weird shmup stages, which pretty much serve as intermission breaks, the game's pacing, difficulty, music, graphics, everything... is just perfect. I have come to love the one-hit kill, as it supports a style of play that naturally leads to what feels like superplay-level gaming, without ever needing to resort to a guide or playthrough. The bosses are GREAT. Fixed attacks mixed with random movement patterns means you always know what you are supposed to do, but are still kept on your toes. Jumping up and down ledges, smacking dudes with your blade, cutting their feet with shurikens, learning every enemies movement patterns and how to lead them, everything. It took me several plays to clear this, and each time I had a blast playing each stage. Stages are brief and take you right into the action that stage is designed around.

I could go on and on about this game, it blew me away.

Now that my first Genesis/MD Ninja Scroller has been defeated, I am looking to move to either Strider or Return of Shinobi. I've never played either of them!

I have to recommend Revenge of Shinobi. There are so many memorable moments and boss fights. Also the level design is incredibly challenging, but not impossible makes it one of my favorites. I played the heck out of it when I was a kid as it was included in the Sega Classics disc for my Sega CD.

A lot of you have played this game; so, I won't write much. I will say, however, that this game - which is immensely fun - demonstrates the strength of Capcom's 8-bit offerings. WayForward also did a great job updating the graphics and level design, and the new final level is intensely challenging. I very much enjoyed this game, and I think that DuckTales Remastered is probably my second-favorite WayForward game (after the brilliant A Boy & His Blob (Wii)).

^ Have you played Centipede: Infestation yet? I'm sure you own it as it's one of those $3 GameStop games.

I have it on both the 3DS and the Wii...you know...just in case...

EDIT: I really love $3 Wii games. Some of the Wii's best, most original games are also some of its least expensive, and I really should photograph my Wii collection at some point. (Sadly, I have to work this weekend...)

Interesting to hear, I played through the first level and another level and I really disliked it. The controls didn't feel very precise and I didn't care for the look of it.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
