Jinx that 'not likely' list.

Bluetooth controller I asked, never without a hack. TG16 I think same, someone makes an adapter+hack to read it. Power on remotely I doubt is doable either, and the other save files I doubt that too as it would probably require a total rewrite of the save mechanics they use.

Multi-games in system/select won't work as I think it sends a current to all the ports, so if it sees more than one it gets confused.

I think your system menu color and small movies to the system/SD would be very doable, but the rest I doubt it without a third party hack.

This isn't exactly news, but it was news to me:
RetroRGB has a teardown of the Retron 5. This includes a few surprises. There's a space on this board for an extra cartridge slot.

Tanooki wrote:Interesting enough I got this tasty tidbit of info I wasn't aware of. While the MENU on the system uses Android, the emulators themselves tap the hardware directly and android is switched off. This is why the system itself has no input/delay lag versus something like Ouya and other Android emulators because it has to deal with the lag Android forces upon it.
I think Tanooki suggested that Android is just used for the front end, not the emulation. I think this teardown indicates otherwise based on the photos. The motherboard (ironically the smallest board here) has the Rockchip RK3066 at its heart. Fuzhou designed this ARM9 cpu specifically for android. The big board with the cartridge ports just has a XILINX Spartan field programmable gate array, not a proper CPU of its own. As far as I can see, there is no NOAC or similar hardware. Based on these pictures, I must speculate that the emulation is all done in android not on the hardware level.

Also, I've seen discussion somewhere on the internet of the thing containing libretro cores. If I can find it, I'll post the link.

edit: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/sh ... -play-Roms

Emulation is definitely done at the software level.

I wasn't implying anything, I was told that by the head tech who runs the facebook account and shadow reads this board among a few others for suggestions and improvements just before posting it more or less.

I'm reading that assemblergames forum link and they're starting to piss me off the more I go. They seem to want to confirm this is using some GPL code I guess so they can attack hyperkin about it with some and others to copy the work and put it on a cheaper device I'd rather not see this shut down because of a few butthurt coders even if it may have been inspired by the code. Realistically not much could be done, they don't charge for the software as the updates are all free and public, just the hardware.

Wow, apparently I'm a fool for actually owning games that I play.

That's the over-inflated sense of entitlement these days though; everything should just be given to you for free, and exactly when you want it, how you want it.

I was just commenting on how everything has to be able to play roms and shit now. God forbid someone actually has to purchase a game to play it.

I guess I just don't get it.

Oh yeah, I can understand that. The things found in the software digging were what caught my eye, not the original purpose of that thread.

And IDGAF about libretro cores being in this thing. All that shit is just porting someone else's code anyway. Plus, anytime I've ever seen that main guy behind the RetroArch project pop up anywhere, he seems to be a major asshole.

Ok only because I want to get back on track with retron, what would be the decent genesis/md games I should get? And while i'm at it even gb/c/a, nes, and snes, that are either never released in the US or insanely cheaper when from other regions that I should keep my eye out for? I'm not going to get them all now or next month but I have no clue what to look out for besides seiken denetsu 3 and a few other square/enix games. Heck even now i have a console that could play lost vikings
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

Using BETA5:
Can confirm that DKC problems are fixed. Played for 20 minutes, let it sit on the stage-select screen for a while then came back and played for another hour. No video issues.
