If you are delving in DC games that aren't only Batman and Superman, might I suggest avoiding Justice League Task Force? It's a SNES/Genesis fighting game that is mediocre at best and has some stiff controls. I don't think it's quite as bad as Screwattack claimed(they put it on their 10 worst fighters list...but that list is pretty horrible), but it's nowhere near as good as other offerings on those same consoles.
I've played Task Force before via emulation. Yeah, it is decidedly mediocre but since Injustice's release it has become a bit of a fun novelty. 16 bit Injustice, if you will.

I was just browsing some of the other Justice League GBA games (ones based on the TV series) and it turns out they never even came out in Europe. No way I'm paying the import price for them.

Guess my next gaming project will have to be the Strike games.

Posting in this thread mostly because I like it and want it tagged for new posts.

I favor the following (as usual in no order and with the generic rating of "liked"):
Amazing Spider-Man vs. the Kingpin (Sega CD, and one of the 1st SCD games I played and still a favorite; used to listen to the CD music on its own too)
Maximum Carnage (Gen; began my fascination with Venom)
Marvel Vs Capcom (DC, and my 1st crossover fighter that I owned; blew my mind having an over the top arcade fighter like that on a home system; really liked the whole series though and MvsC2 gets more playtime these days)
X-Men 2: Clone Wars (Gen; liked it enough to beat it; love Gambit's theme music on the 1st level)
Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems (SNES)

and back in the day I liked Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six (NES), but I played recently on an emulator and can't get back into it)
Sort of liked the X-Men games on Game Gear, but I feel like I just tolerate them sometimes. Something keeps me playing though.

Been meaning to play some other Spider-Man games sometime (PS1/PS2/Xbox era), and still need to give Web of Fire (32X) a fair shake.
...just another lost soul...

What would you guys (and girls) say are the best Spider-Man games?

From what I've researched:

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
Ultimate Spider-Man

Both don't seem related to any movie release, which is a good thing.

Spider-Man 2 and the PS1 Spider-Man games are pretty good, IMO.

Spider Man for the Atari 2600. It has been all down hill from there...

Shattered Dimensions is excellent and a must play. I recommend it above all others.

And while I've yet to play Edge of Time, it is by the same team who made Shattered Dimensions, and I would assume its good too.

A friend told me Edge of Time was, and I quote, "total fucking wank" in comparison to Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions.

While that's a funny way to put it, I'm disappointed to hear it. That's too bad...

Well, Shattered Dimensions remains awesome just the same.

I played a really good GBA or DS Spider-Man game, but I don't remember for sure which it was. It may have been Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace as I remember Big Wheel as a boss.

There is a decent (but not as good) "Ultimate Spider-Man" game on the DS where you also alternate and play Venom.

Back in the day there were two I played and thought were good.
There was a nice Megadrive Spider Man game I liked, it was the one mentioned already here: Amazing Spider-Man vs the Kingpin (well, it was mentioned on the Sega CD, which is the same game with enhancements).

There was also a nice game on the Amiga, called just "Amazing Spider-Man". It had a huge maze-like play area and was quite difficult, I never managed to finish it. It was against Mysterio but it was mostly somewhat slow and ponderous gameplay where you have to avoid most of the (practically unkillable) bad guys and traps.

Actually makes for a good sub topic, best Marvel games for specific characters. X-Men Legends II had some kind of bug or glitch in it that made Nightcrawler quite possibly the best character in the game, or a top 3 character at the very least. He was very fun to play too. I don't know that there's any better game for Nightcrawler fans to play.

Aside from having his own fun game on the 360, Deadpool was also an upper tier character in Marvel Ultimate Alliance and had plenty of funny lines in it too. He had a permanent spot on my team each time I played through the game.

X-Men Legends was great for the ladies in the Marvel Universe. Storm and Jean Grey were absurdly powerful, and Psylocke became a pretty potent late game character too.
