A game developer getting input from fans regarding alterations/updates to games is not censorship in any way whatsoever. This is the democratic process and it's an intelligent move for developers to reach out to their audience.
There is no "feminist lobby" that has any legislative or legal power to forcibly censor or edit video games.

Nope, no conspiracy....just a (not very) new tagging method: http://patriciahernandez.kinja.comflex wood wrote:The rape allegations were against the guy that created Cards against humanity.
The sexual harassment case I can't remember the name of the studio maybe 7k knows.
...the thing is all of her articles have been removed. They would all be right here in this link but none of them are.
The first article in question: http://kotaku.com/the-need-to-talk-abou ... 1606786831
The essay is presented as an editorial piece and leads off with the accused's own words and a link to his site. She didn't make a "rape allegation," she reported on one that was made formally and used the editorial space to weigh in on what she thought of his response. I don't see the problem.
The second article in question: http://kotaku.com/5940401/pc-gaming-stu ... harassment
That link is full of updates and explanations about the suit from the time of the publication of the article (which was only reporting on the public information regarding a legal case that's ongoing) through to its dismissal. Seems like pretty thorough coverage.
There are no great conspiracies. No removed links. None of the things you are claiming about Hernandez or Kotaku can be substantiated. You are misinformed.
Does some of the gaming press seek stories that are connected to issues of race and gender in the industry? Sure, they are good for clicks and these are businesses, after all. But...isn't it also true that race and gender issues in the industry are a problem that many in and around games care about? Yes, I believe so.
Re: Gamer Gate
Did you read the original first article Dave? There was no formal charges or complaint. Are you seriously going to tell me you read that article? That's bullshit unless of course you consider tweets and posts on facebook to be formal rape complaints. That was a hit piece.dsheinem wrote:The first article in question: http://kotaku.com/the-need-to-talk-abou ... 1606786831

I never said there was a conspiracy so cut that shit out when you aren't going to bother to read the articles.
Re: Gamer Gate
ok, made "formally" is perhaps strong as it could imply, to some, a legal accusation...but the accuser made it publicly and he responded publicly - it isn't just all hearsay. I read this when it was originally posted, and remember there being direct statements by those involved, which there are.flex wood wrote:Did you read the original first article Dave? It isn't a "hit piece". It states at the start
That segues into a discussion of how people might think about responding to accusations and about what constitutes consent. She took issue with his response, as is her right to do in an editorial space. You can read Temkin's post here—he describes his previous relationship with the woman who accuses him of rape, and he talks about his complex feelings around social media, to which some people have taken to to protest him and Cards Against Humanity. He notes that he feels hurt, as he claims that he didn't rape anyone, and that he will try his best to continue to be a feminist moving forward. Temkin writes:

Flex, why on earth is this so important to you? I don't get it. If this is the shit that gets your blood boiling, I want your life dude.
Re: Gamer Gate
For the record, I am a male feminist and I would like to see better female representation in video games.
That should be an off-topic comment since we are ostensibly talking about the journalistic integrity of people who write about video games, but somehow it is not?

For transparency sake, when I talked about Depression Quest in the Games Beaten thread, that was of my own free will and not because Zoe Quinn showed me sideboob that one time.
Seriously though you shouldn't expect much journalistic integrity from anyone connected to Gawker or any of those other news aggregation sites. They are quagmire's of misinformation and Op-ed pieces by design.
